Kedarnath Yatra helicopter booking online scam: Uttarakhand Police STF allegedly cracks on cyber criminal

The Uttarakhand government has torn the fake websites involved in the helicopter ticket booking scam. Cyber ​​criminals are targeting people during the Kedarnath Yatra, which is the pilgrimage of the Kedarnath temple which is part of the Chota Char Dham Yatra. According to a report, fraudsters have created fake ticket booking websites and are advertising them through social media pages. The Uttarakhand Police has also asked the citizens to be vigilant, and many social media pages related to this online scam have been blocked so far.

Kedarnath Yatra Helicopter Ticket Booking Scam on the Rise

According to one recently ReportUttarakhand Police Special Task Force (STF) has closed 51 URL or website, 56 bank accounts and 30 WhatsApp numbers which are associated with helicopter booking scam. Meanwhile, 111 phone numbers that are associated with cyber fraud are allegedly blocked.

Fraudbers are trying to woo pilgrims with fake tickets for helicopter service. These tickets promise to ride from sites that are not currently supported, and to woo individuals at a lower price to pay cyber criminals. For this purpose, scammers are asked to use social media pages and websites.

Uttarakhand Police posted Video Earlier this month, on YouTube, warned the travelers to be cautious while booking the helicopter tickets online. The video also states that the police have blocked 37 such social media pages that were found to be associated with the scam, while the report states that even more pages have been blocked.

Meanwhile, pilgrims have been urged to avoid those who claim them to be agents or representatives of helicopter services. They have also been asked to call 1930 or call ccps.deh@uttarakhandpolice.uk.gov.in and Uttarakhand STF has also been asked to report fraud websites or social media pages.
