- Enterprise readiness for Windows 11 is improving but still uneven, the new report says
- Healthcare and Finance sector fall behind in upgrading old hardware
- Despite upgrading most devices, migration is the slowest in the US
Millions of enterprise equipment are still running Windows 10, even the time limit of Microsoft to eliminate support for OS approach.
As the latest of controlup Windows 11 readiness Report, half of all business-managed windows devices have not yet switched.
This number reflects progress from previous year, when more than 80% of enterprise machines were still at Windows 10, but with the end of support on October 14, 2025, the time for organizations is still lagging behind.
Extensive variation in industries
“While 50% of the completion mark is a major milestone, it is not time to rest,” said Marsel Calf, America Field CTO. “Many enterprises still face hardware and plan challenges.”
The report analyzed more than a million equipment and found widespread variation in industries.
Education and technology are led, more than 70% of the systems are upgraded. Healthcare and Finance Trail is far behind, running less than half of their devices Windows 11. Some healthcare devices are simply very old, requiring replacement with a requirement of 19% before an upgrade.
Regional trends suggest that the US is the slowest to move forward. Compared to 70% in Europe, only 43% of enterprise devices have upgraded.
In particular, most of the un-upgraded machines in the US are technically able to run Windows 11, but the switch is not made.
Large organizations are also behind. Those who manage over 10,000 Windows devices have completed only 42% migration. Complex environment and the infrastructure of aging are slowing down.
If your business still uses Windows 10, it is time to take action. Start by checking which devices meet the requirements of Windows 11, such as TPM 2.0 and safe boot. Change the upgrade that cannot be upgraded, and plan a phased update for the rest. Prefer high -risk devices, back up data, and keep the system patches during infection.
If it is not possible to upgrade, reduce the risk by limiting access to sensitive systems, enabling the underlying safety and separating the old equipment. Ensure that all updates are current and you are running the best antivirus software and best malware security.
Microsoft is completely aware that the deadline is bad news for many companies and is offering payment support through its extended security update (ESU) program, which is open to individuals and organizations. This is definitely not cheap.
