- $ 649 price tag of Lenovo Chromebook Plus holds it with wide software support and fast chips with Windows laptop
Lenovo’s latest Chromebook Plus (14 “, 10) has introduced something unusual: a MediaTek Companio Ultra Processor.

Lenovo Chromebook Plus promises an all-in-one experience for professionals, students and creators.
It supports memory up to 16GB of memory and 256GB of internal storage, but the real story lies in powering the chip – the Companio Ultra processor has MediaTek’s NPU 890 and ARM Imortalis -G 925 GPU, which offer 50 tops of AI performance.
Being impressive on paper, the broad market has yet to demonstrate what it really means for everyday users in the actual workflows.
The laptop also has OLED 2K display with 100% DCI-P3 coverage, quad speaker with dolby atmos and a battery life that allegedly reaches 17 hours.
Under only 1.17 kg, it is eligible with this more hardware among the lightest laptop models, although the use of the real world can paint more tempered pictures.
Lenovo and Google AI are barely pushing the story. Features such as smart grouping, AI-Assisted image editing in the gallery app and optical character recognition in documents aim to streamline digital life.
There is also direct Gemini support on the shelf, allowing text summary and tab management.
“Lenovo Chromebook Plus (14”, 10) distributes the most powerful AI capabilities on a chromebook … This premium device is your right everyday partner, “said Beni Zhang, Executive Director and Intelligent Divisions of Lenovo, said Beni Zhang, the general manager of Chromebook in the Intelligent Divisions Group of Lenovo.
The machine includes chrome enterprise upgrade for IT control and chrome education upgrade for schools, both allow to manage updates, policies, apps and safety from clouds.
Nevertheless, compared to this device can hesitate users comparing more traditional options in the same price range.
Starting from $ 649, it overlaps with more installed Windows and MACOS devices – so those looking for the best laptops for engineering students can find chromos boundaries, especially with software compatibility, a deal breaker.
And while its portability is a strength, MediaTek processor still needs to prove itself under the demand for professional use.
