LG is the time for smartphone users to take action: The company is closing its update server for good on June 30, 2025. As Android Authority, This means that after this date, LG smartphones will no longer receive official Android updates or will have access to LG’s software management tool.
The shutdown firmware over-the-air (FOTA) upgrade service, update center app service and LG Bridge will affect PC software. These services allowed users to manage their equipment, backup data and install updates through computers. All these services will stop working at midnight Korea Time (GMT +9) on 30 June.
It is important for those who still use LG smartphones to install any pending updates before the deadline. Additionally, users who rely on LG Bridge for backup and data management should ensure that everything is safe before the server goes offline.
Although it makes sense that the LG is finishing support after exiting the mobile market, it acts as the final reminder to the remaining users update their equipment and prepare for the end of the official software support. After June 30, no other official update or support from LG will be available.
LG announced the exit from the smartphone marketplace in 2021. LG Wing 5G, launched in October 2020, often stands out as the final flagship device showing LG’s innovative spirit with its unique Swaving dual-screen design. Other notable phones released in the leading period to exit the company include designed-centered LG Makhmali series, multimedia-focused LG V60 ThinQ 5G, Stylus-equipped budget-friendly LG Styls 6, and Middle-rang 5G-S) LG K92 5G.
Interestingly, there was at least one report at the end of last year stating that the LG smartphone was thinking about joining the market again. To date, however, it has not happened.
