A collective of former WordPress developers and contributors supported by Linux Foundation has launched a new and independent distribution system for Fair Package Manager, Reliable WordPress plugins and themes.
This is a recent response to a recent controversy after the legal conflict between the commercial WordPress hosting providers automatically and the WP engine, after the previous, the plugins and themes were banned on the vordpress.org platform used by all WordPress sites to keep up-to-date up-to-date.
Conflict stems from several issues, including brand use controversy and disagreement over the contribution to WordPress Open-SOS project.

The WP engine also accused Mulenveg that if they do not comply with, they are trying to get millions out of a trademark license by threatening with a “scorched Earth nuclear approach”. Automatic then counter With his own struggle-and-exercise papersThe WP engine claimed $ 400 million in revenue through unauthorized use named WordPress and violations on WooCommerce Trademark.
Open-source WordPress plugin manager
In the light of these issues, the Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports Linux Development and Open-source Projects, unveiled Fair package managerA seller-plate plugin distribution system that does not depend on a single source for plugin and theme delivery and updates.
“Fair package manager project paves the way for the stability and development of Open Source Content Management, gives contributors and businesses to a neutral community controlled by a neutral community,” Said Jim Zemlin, Executive Director of Linux Foundation.
This decentralized option for WordPress.org ecosystem hosts through WordPress developers and a drop in plugin that replaces centralized services with a federated infrastructure.
The new platform “brings together a fragmented ecosystem by bringing plugins from any source together” and “creates security in the supply chain, including better cryptographic safety measures, enhanced browser compatibility, and enabling dependence on reliable source safety salts.”
It also replaces communication through WordPress.org API with local or fair options, introduces a new distribution model for plugins and themes (adding support for opt-in packages using fair protocols), and allows the host to set up its own plugins and themes using aspirePress or its own domain.
“Fair Package Manager Project WordPress gives a strong, more independent foundation to give software to the Ecosystem. By distracting distribution, we are ensuring the long-term stability of this open source content management platform,” said, Carrie Dills said, Carry Dills, one of the co-ordinances of the three Fair Technical Steering Committee.
“For any construction on WordPress – whether as a product, a service or significant infrastructure – the fair package manager project provides a reliable, stable path further.”
