Macos 26 Public Beta is finally here – 5 features I’m trying first

    Kerry Van/ZDDNet

Last month, Apple announced its latest update for Macos 26, named “Taho”. It is filled with new visual design elements such as Apple’s liquid glass design theme, better integration with iPhone, and a more strong spotlight feature that is better integrated with shortcuts.

In fact, this year the theme of all the updates of Apple is streamlining both views and feature sets, while Apple provides more apps and features punctured by Intelligence.

Although the official release of McOS Taho will not be done till this decline, if you are willing to try them early, then the public beta is finally here. This means that Apple has determined that the operating system is stable enough to be opened for the public on a large scale, but keep in mind that there may be insects.

Let’s take a look at the biggest announcements made for McOS.

    1. Phone app on mac

    Apple

The phone app has finally come on MACOS, which allows a more streamlined user experience between your iPhone and the computer. Users can now use recent calls and contacts synchronized by your iPhone, and in the same way with a single click. What is more, the phone app will include new features added in iOS 26, including hold assist and call screening.

In addition to calls and contacts, live activities from iPhone will appear on your Mac, such as tracking delivery from Uber or Seamless. Clicking on live activity will open the iPhone Mirror, which will allow you to take action directly from your Mac.

    2. Liquid glass and visual stability

    Apple

Apple dropped a major scene overhaul for iOS with its liquid glass design theme, and many of them are filtering updated Macos, which are streamlining the user experience in devices.

Dock, sidebar and toolbar are re -designed in the same transporting aesthetics, which aims to show more materials on the screen without UI dislocation. In addition, round elements and added supplements look too much such as what you will see on the iPhone. Adaptation also allows you to adjust the control center just like the iPhone

Like the iPhone, MACS will support additional privatization options, including dark or light mode, an all-calcium icon and dock theme, as well as customized color tones. This adaptation extends to the folder icon itself with colors, subjects and even emozis.

    3. Shortcuts and spotlights become smart

    Apple

The Macos 26 adds a handful of smart integration to the 26 spotlight feature. Instead of having only a simple discovery bar, Apple updates for the spotlight make it in a more powerful control room that works with shortcuts and can also perform app-specific actions while operating by Apple intelligence.

For example, during WWDC Keenote, we saw a demo in a photo editing app, in which the user adjusts the color tone by searching for that function in the spotlight. In a complex app such as Photoshop, for example, if you cannot find a specific function, the spotlight can step up to act as a top-tiered search function.

Also: Apple’s secret chutney is actually AI missing

In supporting additional productivity features, the spotlight will also have clipboard history and will allow you to create automation with Apple Intelligence to summarize text or create complex actions such as creating images. You can use the Apple Intelligence Model on your device or chatgpt.

For example, the spotlight will also support a handful of shortcut quick keys, such as “SM” for “send messages”. It opens a thread where you can send a message directly from the Spotlight app, without swaping the messages.

    4. Apple Intelligence, of course

Some Apple Intelligence features starting on the iPhone will now be available in Macos, including a more strong, individual head and a smart shortcut app.

Apple Macos 26 is also opening, so third-party developers can start creating apps that actually integrate with Apple Intelligence. This is a smart step, allowing some breathing rooms to pursue their own AI features (which say that have fallen behind the contestants), while external developers allow the user to bring useful AI tasks in Mac.

    5. Apple Games

    Apple

With the launch of the game app on the iPhone, we are also watching Game 26 coming on Macos 26 as a dedicated store, launcher and leaderboard. The game app also brings overlay showing low power mode, as well as system settings like online friends and communication.

Metal 4 MACOS with 26 -MACOS 26 comes in 26, the metalfax is offered high quality graphics with frame interpolation and denoizing metalfax for smooth view and sharp frame rates.

    Let’s talk about compatibility

All these updates look very good, but not every MACOS will be compatible with 26 taho. The old Mac with Intel processors will not support the new OS version, unfortunately. This means that any MAC with the M1 processor or later Macos 26 will run, but most of the equipment before the 2020 mark will not make.

Also: How to install Macos 26 bet on your Mac (and which models support it)

It carries forward everyone, but seals the deal when the old Intel-based model is phased, something like this we are expecting from Apple for some time. If you have a Mac computer with an Intel processor, you can still run the previous Macos, Sequoia, or its preceding, Sonoma, it depends on how old your device is.
