Here is a secret for you: I can write about PC for a living, but I have not created or bought a new computer in almost a decade. I don’t just ask for the game graphically, but the new retro 95 gaming PC of Maingear has finally designed me to break my streak.
A throbac for that era when I demanded a lot in the game (for back), the Maingear Retro 95 seems to be that it runs Windows 95, not Windows 11. Silverstone-a retro-style PC case manufactured inside the silverstone FLP01 that began as a joke of an April flower before becoming an real product last year-which is visible that retro 95, which is more powerful than any of my machines. An NVIDIA RTX 5080 graphics card, AMD or Intel to Current-Je Chips, and Packing of Memory and 8TB storage up to 96GB, this machine is the definition of a sleeper build (and yes, it runs the most up-to-date operating system of Microsoft).

But this is the form that I am considering whether I should click on that “Buy” button. The case is the exact shadow of the beige to tickle my nostalgia, and comes with fans of Noktua’s old school style to complete disguise. You can also keep it horizontally or vertically, and regardless of your orientation, there are delightful round legs to relax on your PC. Overall, this computer looks like an antidot for all rainbow lights and pointed graphics that beautify modern gaming PCs, things that make me very little appeal that I am big now.
Perhaps the best part, however, is a floppy drive. The case has two mock floppy drives, but they are not just for the show. Instead, the lower one is in your USB ports, and the upper comes with a functional DVD drive. Physical PC media is mostly dead at this day and age, but, including a way of taking disc, really ensures that Retro 95 will be able to play your retro software too, rather than that it can only look the same.
What do you think so far?
The price is also correct, but a little catch. Starting from $ 1,599, it is appropriately placed around other levels. Prebilat Gaming PC With the RTX 5080 inside, so you get an additional retro flair without any additional cost. Unfortunately, however, Maingear is making only a limited amount of these. The company has not said how many of it will sell in retro 95, but according to a press release, “Once they leave, the game ends,” (according to the company’s website) “No Reran” and “no other chance.”
This is not very surprising for such a specific product, but is it probably more disappointing that you have to provide your own goods. While the marketing material of Maingear shows retro 95 under a heavy old CRT monitor and exit with an old school speaker and mouse/keyboard setup, buying it will only give you the tower. Frankly, it will be a lot of effort and cost for the mingier to sell such retro gear with your new computer, but if you really want to complete this PC look then expect to spend some time on eBay.
