American healthcare data giant Episouus has confirmed a cybercatac to lose sensitive data on more than five million people.
In a data breech notification published on the company’s website, it was stated that the intrusion was seen on February 6, 2025, and after closing the IT network, after bringing the third-party forensic experts and informing the law enforcement, the company learned “copies of some figures” between 27 January and 6 February 2025.
Data includes health plans/policies, insurance companies, members/group ID numbers and Medicade-Medicare-Government Payer ID number. This includes health data such as medical record numbers, doctors, diagnosis, medicines, test results, images, care and treatment, as well as other personal data such as the date of birth or social security number (SSN).
Growing reliability
Cyber criminals often target healthcare organizations for their data, as it can be abused by fishing, identity theft and other forms of scams.
The rogue data can be used personally to assure crafts, emails, who can trick the victims to download malware or share login credentials.
At the same time, Episourus filed a new report for the Civil Rights Violation Portal for the US Health and Human Services Office, impressed by 5,418,866 people.
