Mcafee has started bundling its new scam detector feature in all its core antivirus schemes.
The equipment claims to identify the scam before they cause damage and provide real -time scanning of lessons, emails and video content.
This step seems to be in response to the growing threat of AI-operated scams, but it questions whether users need to pay for such safety when many independent and similar options exist.
Scam
MCAFEE says its equipment claims 99% accuracy for lesson-based hazards and 96% claims to detect deepfac from YouTube and Tiktok with accuracy.
Considering mobile use, it supports apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Gmail, and more, which automatically capable of scanning Android SMS and allows manual scans on iPhone.
Its settings allow users to adjust sensitivity, and include on-demand checks by uploading messages or screenshots.
“The reality is that the amount, speed and sophistication of today’s AI-run scams has become a drain on people’s time, energy and finance,” said CEO Craig Boundy, McAffi’s CEO.
“By detecting lessons, emails and video scams within all core MCAFEE schemes, we are helping people to empower the security of the scam and empower people to control our digital life.”
However, to receive access, you have to pay for the Mcafee Antivirus subscription plan, raising the question whether the scam detector alone justifies payment for a full security suit alone – with especially available with reliable free equipment available.
Free option
One such free tool is the scamio of Bitdefnder, which is a chatbot available on the discord. This feature is not planned like Mcafee; It is completely independent and allows users to scan the link, text, screenshot and even QR code for scam detection.
The tool uses AI to interpret both reference and language, but does not include video deepfec detection. Nevertheless, it is accessible and effective for everyday dangers.
Google has also rolled out the AI-based scam detector, but only for pixel phones and only in beta. It scans the audio from the upcoming call and alerts users in real time if it identifies the specific scam language.
Mcafee, like Norton, another heavyweight in antivirus space integrates the safety of its genie scam in its plans, although it focuses on identifying the language of the scam rather than only a malicious URL.
Users will also have to subscribe to texts, calls, emails and websites to get full access to its coverage.
McAfee’s scam detector may stand among the company’s best antivirus providers, but its position as a plan-exclusive feature makes it less accessible than options such as scamio.
