Meta platforms are once again stated that it has resumed the development of a smartwatch that may contain the underlying cameras. The project was first reported to be starting in 2021, but was shielded after less than a year as the company preferred to wear other wrist. According to a report, the smartwatch project has been revived and can be introduced in early September 2025, which reaches as a partner of Meta AI glasses.
According to a digitime report, Meta has revived its smartwatch project and the development is timed with the Meta Connect Conference between 17–18 September in the US. The technology, located in China, is said to be the primary manufacturer of the alleged wearer.
While the details live under the raps, the meta smartwatch can arrive with a built -in camera that will act as a discrimination when putting against the choice of Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch. Its inclusion can enable Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities.
However, the report later opposed itself and says that “it is not clear that the smartwatch will debut in the upcoming meta connect event”. This makes the future of Meta Smartwatch uncertain, but this is not the first time that would have happened.
The project was first reported in 2021, in which Smartwatch was named “Milan”. At that time, it was considered a watch with a screen that is curved around the edges. The alleged meta smartwatch was asked to carry a front-faceing camera under the display and a physical control button on the right side of the frame.

A few months later, a double camera smartwatch being developed by Meta’s reality labs division emerged. In a report, we also saw an image showing and showing the front of a prototype of smartwatch, with a 5-megapixel camera and a 10-megapixel camera respectively. It had a gold colored cover with two buttons on one side.
However, the project was eventually given shelter in June 2022. Reports suggested that the other camera had caused issues with an in-development feature, which allowed the wearer to control the smartwatch by converting nerve signals from the wrist to a digital command.
