Microsoft is seeking more information from customers who reported their solid-state drive (SSDs) and hard disk drives (HDDs) after installing the security update August 2025 reported the failure and data corruption issues.
Microsoft on Wednesday told Bleepingcomputer that it is aware of reports that are issues of SSD and HDD data corruption and failure by setting up KB5063878 security updates.
In a service alert viewed by Bleepingcomputer, the company said that it could not reproduce the issue on the up-to-date Windows on the Windows 11 24H2 system and is now trying to collect the user report with additional information from the affected people.
The company said, “We are actively working with our storage device partners to try to reproduce the issue. At the time of this publication, neither the internal test nor the telemetry has identified the disc failure or file corruption,” the company said.
“In addition, Microsoft Customer Assistance Teams have not received reports from customers who experience this issue. If you are experiencing the issue, please contact support for business or use feedback hub to file reports.
The company is also investigating whether the issue is Microsoft’s fault and promised to provide an update if more details are available.
