Microsoft has announced that it will shut down the password storage and autofil feature in the authentic app starting in July and complete the designation in August 2025.
The decision is to streamline autofil support and integrated credentials management under a single platform, microsoft edge.
The move requires action from the affected users as they are given by August 1, 2025, so that they can export their information from the authentic, or take the risk of losing it.
Microsoft Artist is a free mobile app (IOS And Android) Which provides safe sign for mobile accounts using time-based one-time password (TOTP), push notification, or biometric-based confirmation such as multi-factor authentication (MFA) methods.
The app supports authentication for microsoft accounts, Azure ad and github, as well as non-microsoft platforms such as microsoft services.
The autofil feature was added to the mobile authenticator apps in December 2020, allowing users to automatically fill their credentials saved in the authenticator on sign-in forms.
Support for this feature is about to end, however, Microsoft announced a phased depiction of autofils in three stages:
- June 2025: You can no longer save new passwords in the authentic.
- July 2025: The autofil will stop working in the authentic proof; The collected payment information will be removed.
- August 2025: Saved passwords and unheard passwords will no longer be accessible in the authentic.

To Export passwords From the Microsoft Conflict, Menu> Settings> Autofil> Select Export Password> Select an export space and tap on ‘Save’.
The import process applies only to account passwords. The payment information will have to be resumed manually due to safety reasons.
Microsoft stated that passkeys will be supported in the authentic, so users who actively use them to sign in their microsoft accounts ensure their use to ensure that the app is enabled as their passing providers.
