Microsoft has accidentally fixed an ongoing Windows Firewall Error Message Bugs in the recent update, stating that they are still working on a resolution.
Earlier this month, Microsoft warned that, starting from the preview of June 2025 Windows 11, user would see Windows Firewall errors in event viewer.
These phenomena will be labeled as an event ID 2042 for Windows Firewall with advanced security, and each time you restart Windows.
Microsoft explained, “This error is found in the event viewer as an event 2042 for Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. The event manifests as” Configer Read Fail “.
“Although the event is logged in to the event viewer, after resuming the device every time, they do not reflect an issue with Windows Firewall, and may be disregarded.”
Microsoft states that these errors can be disregarded, as they are not an issue with Windows Firewall. Instead, they belong to an upcoming feature that is not fully implemented in the operating system.
As part of the July Patch Tuesday’s update, Microsoft certainly marked the bug. However, Microsoft later announced on Tuesday that he had mistakenly marked the issue, apologizing to the mistake.
Microsoft said, “This disclosure was accidentally updated to the situation resolved on July 8. There is a plan to include a resolution in the update to be issued in the coming weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion,” Microsoft said.
Microsoft says it is working on a fix, which will be released in the upcoming update.
