Microsoft is hitting films and TV stores in the Microsoft Microsoft Store, after more than a decade of rented and offering a way to buy movies through your PC or Xbox.
The end was confirmed New microsoft support page (Viewed by Windows Central) Which was published today (July 18).
“Microsoft is now not providing new entertainment materials for purchases including Microsoft.com, Microsoft.com on Microsoft.com, Microsoft.com, on Microsoft Store, Windows, and Microsoft Store on Xbox,” reads the page.
If you try to reach the media using the entertainment app at Microsoft Store, you will now see an alert that reads, “Microsoft will no longer provide movies and TV content for purchase.” The button that lets you buy movies or TV shows has been removed.
In FAQ on the page, Microsoft says that any already purchased material will still be accessible through films and TV apps, which you can still download from Microsoft Store.
“You can continue to enjoy your pre -purchased films and TV shows using Microsoft films and TV apps on your Xbox or Windows device,” says Microsoft.
For any new media, the company suggests streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
It is an ignorant end for a service that has been present since 2012, originally dubbed the Xbox video. Then, this step is not a surprise that Microsoft does not include gaming to get out of the slow pace of entertainment.
As mentioned, Microsoft says you can use your shopping in films and TV apps, which are not going away.
For our customers, anywhere there is a service called movies that you can use to sink your media in other services that support films anywhere.
Originally, it acts in a way to contain your collection for you, while it is able to stream the most anywhere that lets you get the apps anywhere. Often, many physical DVDs and blue-rays released these days have a code for films that you can use to add films to your collection.
If you do not rely on Microsoft, to keep movies and TV apps running, can we suggest that we can return when we make our own home media server or buy physical media. At this point it can also be cheaper than streaming.
