Microsoft Wrong Windows Firewall Fire Bugs behind Firewall errors

Microsoft has solved a known issue that triggers invalid Windows Firewall errors after rebooting the Windows 11 24H2 system with June 2025 preview updates.

The bug has been released on Tuesday in the preview cumulative update for Windows 11 24H2 in the KB50626660 Preview, in which the fix is usually available to all users who will install the August patch update on Tuesday.

Redmund first accepted the bug on 3 July, when Redmund asked the Admins to ignore the wrong warning in the event viewer for Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.

It was also noted at the time that the bug is still due to a new feature under development, which has not yet been fully integrated with the operating system.

“This error is found in the event viewer as an event 2042 for Windows Firewall with Advanced Security. The event manifests as ‘Configer Read’, ‘Configger Read Fail’ with” more data is available “,” it is explained.

“Although the event is logged in to the event viewer, after resuming the device every time, they do not reflect an issue with Windows Firewall, and may be disregarded.”

On 8 July, the company accidentally apologized after tagging the known issue as a solution and said that a fix would soon be available.

In recent weeks, Redmond has dealt with similar issues affecting other Windows features, resulting in no real impact.

For example, in April, Microsoft confirmed and decided another known issue that was causing invalid 0x80070643 failure errors after the April 2025 Windows Recovery Environment (Winre) updates were established.

The same month, it resolved a bug, which caused wrong Bitalocker drive encryption errors on Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices due to a reporting issue. Redmund confirmed the bug in October and stated that it only affects the managed Windows environment where the drive encryption was implemented for the operating system and fixed drive.
