Wisconsin wireless provider SAILCom has confirmed that a cyber attack is responsible for the extensive service outage and disruption that began on the evening of May 14, 2025.
The incident disrupts voice and SMS services to customers in Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, unable to make subscribers phone calls or were unable to send text messages.
Today, after the days of calling it only a technical outage, SAIL CEO Brigid Rordon confirmed what was already doubted: the company faced a cyber attack.
“We experienced a cyber phenomenon. While this is unfortunate, this is not something we were untrained,” one reads Call of CEO Bigyid Rordon, CEO of SAILCom,
“We have protocols and plans for such a situation. From the very beginning, we have followed plans – including attachment to cyber security experts, informing FBI and Visconsin officials and working around the clock to safely bring back the system.”
“This incident focused on an area of our network, from where we store sensitive information related to you, our SAILCom/ Nsight Family. We have no evidence that personal information, your names, your addresses, your financial information, are influenced by this incident.”
SAILCom initially claimed that the disruption was due to a technical issue, stating that data services, IMessage, RCS messaging, and 911 emergency services were on.
However, the user was disappointed with the loss of service and the inability of other carriers due to the issues of SAILCom platforms.
On May 19, Selcom began to bring back some of its services online, including SMS text messaging and other cellcom customers to include and receive phone calls.
However, the company says that when they cannot promise when services will be restored, they are trying to restore the entire service by the end of the week.
“While we want to provide a time -term for complete restoration, we are completely unable to share the exact milestone with confident confidence. Our team is going on on the progress shared tomorrow and our best estimate is that the complete service will be restored from the end of this week,” Service update page On the site of Salecom.
For issues that recover services to SAILCom customers, it is recommended that they enable airplane mode for 10 seconds and then disable it again. If he does not work, subscribers should power their phone and resume to try to start services.
Yesterday, Bleepingcomputer contacted SAILCom with questions about the ransomware attack or disintegration caused by any other cyber phenomenon, but did not find answers to our questions.
Salecom CEO Brigid Rordon also shared a video to explain the situation for customers and what they are doing to overcome services.
