Samsung’s annual foldable refresh includes a trio of equipment this year. When Z fold 7 Comes with a top level processor and cameras, Z flip 7 From its predecessor to several technical details. In fact, this year the most important upgrade is a more expander front display, or flax window, as the company likes to call it.
Samsung somehow has a large battery pair in a slimmer foldable, which is technically impressive. However, the company made a minor improvement in minimum software additions and locations. The upgrade are good, but are they enough?
Hardware
Samsung has caught one of some of its foldable rivals from 3.4 inches to 4.1 inches to a great extent. Two camera cutouts are the only things that disrupt this bright, vivid performance.
Despite the large screen (and battery), Flip 7 is also thinner than last year’s model. It measures below 6.4 mm (0.25 in) thick, 6.9 mm (0.27 in). This is equal to the Galaxy S25 Edge, where the major sales point is its thin. I should not say this, but when you bend it, the thickness doubles: Samsung says that it is 13.7 mm (0.54 in) when it is closed. Although you measure it, it is the thinnest flip ever.
Z Flip 7 has decent battery life, big screen and more AI smart. However, the cameras are dated and Samsung is not offering adequate utility on the second screen of this foldable.
- Big front screen
- Better battery life
- Slimmer design
- Cameras are dated
- Front screen utility is still limited
- Dull charge speed
Flex window now has a 120Hz refresh rate, which can reach the level of extreme brightness of 2,600 NITs (S25 Ultra) and facilitates the thinnest bezel (1.25 mm) of any Samsung smartphone display. Shine growth is an important upgrade on a screen that is mainly used to keep an eye on a desk or to keep an eye on your device in sunlight. Samsung said that it was able to further increase performance on the edges by applying a waterproof coating on the components below the AMOLED display. This meant that less bezel was required around the circumference of the screen.
Samsung expanded the main screen of the foldable up to 6.9 inches – a remarkable step from 6.4 inches of the previous model. The company also wisely shifted to close to the more specific smartphone display ratio of 21: 9. Although this is not enough, as says, Galaxy S25 or iPhone 16, video content is now better.
The previous Z flips had a longer long screen, making it difficult to reach the upper corners while using one hand. While Z Flip 7 has a better aspect ratio, it is also large, which unfortunately means that it has only one issue. If Samsung changed the aspect ratio keeping the size of the screen, it may have been killed in ergonomic sweet place.
Not for the first time, Samsung says that it has further strengthened the Kaj Tantra of the flip. While I cannot go towards its longevity, Flip 7 close with a beefier ‘on’ closure of its predecessors.
I like it takes a little more strength to open because it makes the entire device feel more solid. If you are hoping that this is the year where the display crease disappears, then I am afraid that this is not happening. For those who never have a folding, although the crease of Flip 7 is largely noticeable.
Camera
Story of this year’s flip cameras? More of the same. Flip 7 has a 50-megapixel f/1.8 primary setup with optical image stabilization (OIS) and 12MP ultra-wide lens with a 123-degree scene. There is also a 10MP camera inside, but with a better front screen of the flip, you should actually use the primary camera pair.
The best images come from well -light scenes. Samsung’s night mode is a bit aggressive, but it is still very good for night shots, even though it leaves the skin tone and a very-processed look on the faces. Flip 7 misses for 12.5-megapixel images, but if you want all the details-so you can switch to 50MP still-and you have a stable hand. There is no dedicated telephoto camera, which means the zoom is limited to 2x crop, which hinders the versatility of Z Flip 7. Once again: If you want a foldable with the best cameras, then you have to go with the fold series.
With respect to video capture, Flip 7 can record the video in 10-bit HDR, from 8-bit, more color for accuracy and expansion. And you can still catch Z Flip 7 like a retro camcorder, which is much more pleasant than this.
software
Despite the big screen, Samsung has not actually developed its flex window software this year. Although there are some reforms. When using the front display to take selfies and videos, the interface icon and mode button will swim around the display so that you can find out the way you can find out that you are trying to take photos. If you want to use a special filter on your shots, Z Flip 7 can show the live preview of each filter before applying them.
Two other software joints of the flip series are now bar and now abbreviated, it is introduced in this year’s S25 series. Now the bar is a Samsung spin on the iphone’s dynamic island, which displays relevant or-sensitive information that is not quite a notification, but something you want to know about. This includes live updates from ride-share apps like fitness metrics, weather or Uber.
You can now tap at the bar without opening the phone, and if you want to interact with Google’s Gemini Live, you don’t have to reveal it. This is another Android feature that seems well favorable for foldables, as you can talk to Gemini with minimal physical interaction on Z Flip 7.
To use most other apps, you still have to install Multistar launcher (Which is Made up By Samsung) to see and use basic software like Gmail and Chrome. This is the work -round for right now, as Samsung has not expanded the approved list of six apps, which is allowed to run on Z Flip 7’s Flex Window – a small list that contains Netflix in Chakrailly.
Battery life and performance
Despite being a slimmer compared to last year’s model, Flip 7 has a 4,300mAh battery that is 300mAh larger than its predecessor. With a new processor (its homemade 3nm exynos 2500), has jumped in longevity.
In our standard battery randdown tests, Flip 7 played a continuous video for 18 and a half hours. This is a big jump from the 13-hour of Randdown which I got from Flip 6. I wondered that I conducted a twice tested to confirm and got similar results.
The new chip never felt especially dull, either, whether I was gaming, using Galaxy AI features or completing other tax activities. He said, the phone will be hot, in my hand and in my pocket, during camera testing and location-based tasks, such as using Google Maps and Citimper.
In my day-to-day use, with heavy tests, I would meet a solid day and a half before I had to think about recharging. Unfortunately, the wired charging speed of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is still the top out at 25W, which is the bile to say super fast charging in Samsung. This is the same speed as Z Flip 6 (and base S25), but when other phones are using 45W speed (or higher), it is slightly lower, especially on such premium device.
Wrap
By refreshing the design and slimming the Z Flip and down, Samsung has made it easy to handle its small foldable. At the same time, it completes an engineering miracle by squeezing large screen and more sufficient battery. However, there is a shortage of some aspects of Flip 7, especially cameras, which have not been replaced since last year.
Samsung also needs to do more work in its flex window. While the ability to use most apps on small front displays is here, it still creates a furore and most of them do not correspond to the tinier screen. Here is unused capacity and Z Flip 7 does not further enhance its category of category.
