I felt that it was only me, a non-indestion English speaker who preferred to see everything with subtitle. But clearly, this is not. Is based on recent surveyMore than 50% of American viewers see materials with subtitles. And there are many reasons. Sometimes you want to see something on small quantities in bed, and sometimes it is very difficult to understand what a character is saying. Or, you can see with cheap TV speakers who make your audio difficult to hear.
Netflix is starting to understand this, and therefore for those who do not necessarily have to see sound effects in their subtitles, a folding New dialogue-level subtitle modeThis mode removes text-detail for sound effects, speakers and more.
And don’t worry: CC or closed caption options will still be, so you can choose it if you only need subtitles for more than dialogue. This will tell you when a song is playing, when someone makes some noise, or even if there is a change in the setting.
