Thanks to its small size, sharp image quality and easy gameChat options, the nintendo switch 2 camera is a great peripheral for those who often play online games.
Compact size
At 6.3 x 2.5 x 1.5 inches and 0.32 pounds, the switch 2 camera is an attractive small peripheral, which definitely fits into the aesthetics of the Nintendo.
The actual camera has a half-worthy shape, and it sits on top of a thin shaft that is attached to a circular base. You can lose the camera up to a few degrees, but you cannot do it on the side. There is a privacy shutter that you can easily enable by beating in front of the camera and by beating a USB-C port on the lower part of the camera.
There is a small rubber hook on the shaft that you can tuck through the cable. From the cable tip to the tip is 4.5 feet long, which I think is sufficient for most setups. I would have liked a braided cable instead of a plastic, but it’s best a small nightpick.
Then we have a circular stand. It has a rubber base, which does a good job of keeping the peripheral. In addition to a prudent nintendo switch 2 logo, the stand is free from adornment. It is baseless, but I like it.
Since the camera is so small and light, it is as easy to travel as Nintendo Switch 2. If you are thinking, the camera works if the console is in handheld or tabletop mode. So if you want to play with friends while on the road, you just have to connect the camera to the top USB-C port of Switch 2 and you are all sets.
Civilized 1080p image quality

You can have 12 players in a voice chat session, and can share your screen up to four or participate in video calls.
As expected, the switch 2 works well with the camera gameChat. Within the gamechat, you are able to choose between everything showing that camera captures or just show your head. It performs the latter with a reasonable accurate face tracking. If you have many people in the room with you, it will track everyone’s face, which can be beneficial for local multiplayer sessions.
For your background, you can choose to show what your game is on screen. This is especially useful if you are playing a different game than others in chat. Just keep in mind that the game frame will be sub -30 FPS per second. However, your in-camera frame rate will be on relatively consistent 30fps.
The features I mentioned above are not new to PS5 and Xbox Series X players. But even though it is late for the Nintendo party when it comes to basic online chat features, I think it is good that facilities are here.
