- Report warns that imitating sophisticated bots is human behavior, so old defense is not a chance.
- Mobile apps are subject to siege, targeted BOT traffic with 160% increase year after year
- Captcha forms and rotating proxies help bypass bats to bypass basic defense
The Internet has entered a new era where automatic traffic now accounts for more web activity than human users, says new research.
Redware 2025 Ecommerce Bot Threat Report Most of the traffic for the online store during the 2024 holiday season did not come from people. It came from bots.
For the first time, automated programs – from simple script to A -Nhansed Digital Agents – is responsible for 57% of all traffic, crossing human visitors on e -commerce websites.
A clever generation of bad bots
The report highlights the ongoing development of malicious bots, as around 60% now use behavioral strategies designed to find out, such as rotating IP addresses and identity, using captcha form, and mimicking human browsing patterns, it became difficult to identify them without advanced equipment.
The only effective counter is equally intelligent identity – AI -conducted defense that can learn and adapt. Businesses should assure their safety stacks and look beyond basic filters for advanced DDOS security and intelligent traffic monitoring solutions.
“Bad bots are no longer based on simple scripts – they are sophisticated, A -ennown agents who are capable of reducing traditional defense,” said Ron Mayorn, vice -president of Cyber Threat Intelligence in Redware.
“E-commerce provider and online retailers who rely on traditional security measures will find themselves highlighting themselves, not only during the holidays but during the year.”
The mobile platform has become an important battleground, with an increase of 160% in mobile-targeted bot activity between 2023 and 2024 holidays. The attackers are deploying mobile amulator and headless browsers who mimic the legitimate app behavior.
The report also warned of a combination bots in daily internet traffic. Attack from residential proxy network is making 32% increase by 32% to traditional rate-limit or ecommerce sites to apply gender techniques.
Perhaps the most dangerous development is the rise of multi-vector campaigns of combination of bots with traditional exploits and API-targeted attacks. These campaigns go beyond scrapping prices or testing the theft credibility – their purpose is to take the sites completely offline.
The danger is evident for the best ecommerce website builders or businesses relying on user -friendly platforms. Security should take steps with the attackers. The platforms should also adopt mobile safety dedicated to protect against these rapidly sophisticated hazards.
