Openai is organizing its Devday 2025 event on 6 October today, and the company has already teased that the product is a host of the product launch under its sleeve. While it is towards developers, the company usually announces updates for its consumer products, including CHATGPT.
The incident lasts closely on the heels of OpeanAI’s major product announcements, including its much awaited Sora 2 models and new iOS apps as well as a new agent instant checkout e-commerce feature. Since Openai did not put that news for today’s event, it means that today’s announcements will be even bigger.

Apps SDK Demo

Software engineer Alexi Cristacice in Openai led a live demo showing an app in action within the chat interface. In this example, he opened the CoursEra app, which populated a video from the learning platform within the chat. From there, a user may ask follow-up questions in a process, called OpenAII “Talk to Apps”.
In this case, Christacice spoke to chat about the contents of the video. In another example, he asked Canva to help create a poster – within the interface, four posters in the canva line were able to output examples. There was an explanation with him what the chat did. The app SDK also access the full-screen within the chatgpt.
To further further the boundaries, Christkis asked Chatgate to make a pitch deck from the poster, which got “OOO” and “Ah” from the audience. As it was happening, he went on another sign, asked the chatup in which city he should show off, where he called the Zilo to help find a house in the region. Then Zillow experience became available within Chatgpt.
To filter the zillow results, Alexi was just to type in a natural language prompt, showing how users can narrow the results using the text, which is contrary to messing up with the filter on the zillow website. By then, the slide deck was finished and looked very polished. Crystakis was able to see it in full-screen. From here, users can then pursue the slide through other signals and open them into the canva.
The app is available for SDK developers in preview starting today. At the end of this year, the developers will be able to submit apps to reviews to be listed.
Apps inside chat

Sam Altman opened Davade with the breakdown of upcoming announcements, which fall into four categories: apps, building agents, writing code and API inside the chat.
We are starting with apps inside the chat. Openai is making it easier for developers to manufacture in Chatgpt by launching Apps SDK. This provides the developers access to the full stack, allowing them to create actual apps unlike GPT, as well as using anthropic model reference protocol (MCP).
