Openai has revealed that it has reduced several malicious campaigns using its AI Prasad, including CHATGPT.
In a report titled, “Disrupting malicious uses of AI: June 2025“Openai stated that it disintegrates or disrupts 10 job scams, impact operations, and spam campaigns, using Chatgpt in the first few months of 2025 alone.
Several campaigns were organized by state-respected actors with links to China, Russia and Iran.
Ai campaign disintegration
Four campaigns disrupted by Openai have originated in China, with social engineering, secret impact operations and focus on cyber threats.
A campaign by Openai witnessed the Taiwanese “Overtgite Front” board game, which includes resistance against the Chinese Communist Party spashed by highly important Chinese comments.
The network behind the campaign then generated an article and claimed on a platform, saying that the game had received a wide backlash based on significant comments in an attempt to discredit both sports and Taiwanese freedom.
Another campaign, named “Helgolland Bite”, saw Russian actors using chat to generate lessons in German, which criticized the US and NATO, and generated materials about the German 2025 election.
Most particularly, the group also used Chatgpt to search for opposition activists and bloggers, as well as a converted message to coordinated social media posts and payments.
Openai has also banned several Chatgpt accounts associated with the US targeted impact accounts in the operation known as “Uncle Spam”.
In many cases, the Chinese actors will generate highly divisive material aimed at widening political partitions in the US, including creating social media accounts that post arguments for tariffs and against it, as well as generate accounts that mimic American experienced support pages.
Openai’s report is an important reminder that whatever you do not see online is posted by a real human, and that the person with which you have chosen an online battle can be what they want; Engagement, outrage and division.
