Perplexity has launched its agent answer for Google Chrome – it is called COMET, and it knocked on my behalf a slate of tasks, although I think I could do something fast myself. The new AI -word browser is currently available only through only Max subscribers or early access weightlists, and it is believed that the way you browse the web, it is practically converting AI into everything.
For one, it replaces the Google search results with its perplexity ai “answer engine”, which appears in your browser window when you type a query in the address bar. Unlike your specific search engine, Perplexity will first link the surface to the relevant websites and then you will generate information about what you are searching. The distilled search results of the comate are useful when you want it to reduce your results, but it is a bit nervous to see the mass selection of websites suggested by Google.
The comet also comes with an AI assistant, which is similar to Gemini integration, which is testing in Google Chrome. Select Assistant The top-right corner of the browser will open a sidebar with a chat interface. From here, you can type in a query or use voice mode to chat about various topics, as well as ask specific questions about the webpage you are doing.
The comet can create a summary of an article, describe an image, summarize youtube video, or do more research about the subject that catches your eye. It is capable of scanning all your open tabs to provide summary of those pages and compare products on them.
At this point, all these are all beautiful standard features for AI tools, but what really really stands up is the ability to complete tasks on your behalf. After connecting his Google account to the browser, I found that it was rapid to generate frightening – and was sending – an email herself that summarized the approach to this year’s storm. The browser also complied fast with a request to close all the tabs that I did not open in more than 15 minutes. Even it wrote and published a post on my X account on my side, which is about the upcoming by Google Event.
I asked it to terminate the membership from the promotional email sent by Fubo and Fanatics.com. I noticed that the AI Assistant of the Comat drove himself through this process. In the chat interface, the comet shows what it is “looking” because it detects the recent emails sent by the companies, finds an uncertainty button, and then really selects it.
Even I used to undergo my list of LinkedIn invitations to COMET and accept requests from people with five or more mutual connections. The browser once again discovered its process of undergoing my invitations, recognizing which people met my threshold for mutual connection, and then accept hits. But as I had performed these works, I could not help, but I think it would have been faster if I did them myself.
It took two minutes to uncertain to receive emails from those two providers, but it took me more than 30 seconds to uncertain to only one people (yes, I gave myself time). Comet also ate a part of the time when accepting a couple of linkedIn invitations, a task that I could only do in a few clicks. I can see it serving as a great accessibility tool, as well as a way to complete tasks in the background, while you are doing something else.
When you start a prompt with “take control of my browser”, you can unlock even more agent. I did not feel it until I was able to ask when the browser would be able to book reservation or buy products. Without this phrase, the comate will be reduced by completing these tasks and will provide instructions instead how you can do it manually.
To start, I asked the comate to “control your browser” and summarize the comments Ruckus Article. Instead of rejecting my request because it could not read the collapsed comment section (such as Mithun in Chrome), the comet worked around it and opened the comment section itself. This expressed the feeling of Grake’s AI Anime Vefu about the cursed piece of my colleague V, calling the users’ response to the chatbot highly “negative and important”.
I took a step forward by asking the comate to control my browser, add aquarium sand and glue to an ipad repair in my car on Amazon, and then check out. This process was surprisingly comfortable, as I saw it accepts the total value, choose one day shipping speed of Prime, select my default payment option, and hit the “order” without the need to interfere with me.
I only ran into a few hiccups when the comet book was making me reservation for a restaurant. When I finally found a restaurant that accepts online reservation, I once again asked the browser to take control and reservation for me on a specific date. It completed the task, only it never said for my email or phone number, and instead recorded a normal placeholder for both. I was able to rebook with my actual email address, but shows that the browser could not find everything right at all times.
Perplexity spokesperson Jesse Dwire said, “Some more complex agentic activities such as shopping have a higher failure rate than simple functions, but it is actually a limit to the current AI model.” Ruckus“So it would only be easy and better in comet.”
Nevertheless, the comate can do more than the Gemini integration of Chrome, and it is the exact same type of device that Google has set its locations to make. Perplexity CEO Arvind Srinivas has made it clear that the startup wants to challenge Google’s dominance, and the comet can play a big role in bringing it to speed.
