Since the second, each playstation has a media remote option, as all these devices have a drive that can play movies from the disk. However, I never saw this point, until I found myself for media remote instead of dualsques, and just for more than movies!
I have a dedicated blue-ray player, and a launch PS5 with a disc drive. Since if anything of our blue-rays is 4k UHD, we have rarely used the PS5 Blue-Ray playback function. However, when I bought a second PS5 without a blue-ray drive and established my own small separate place to play and watch the game, I wanted to move the dedicated player where my useless PS5 was.
This meant that whenever we wanted to watch movies or shows from discs on main TV, we would have to use PS5. My wife was not keen to use a controller to manage disk playback, so she asked for media remotes, and since it was the cheapest solution than buying a new blue-ray player, that’s what I did.

Logic tells you that something like media remote for playstation is not a good use of your money, as you can control all similar tasks using the controller that you already have. The design is amazing
I think some people can argue that Sony does not know how to design the electronics of the house. Perhaps stopping PS5, which I know it is very divisive, although I personally like it. Regardless, TV, headphones, music players, and more have shown that Sony can make some incredibly stylish and beautiful accessories. Just watch my old Soni CRT TV, it’s gorgeous. Don’t worry, I bought a table for it after this photo.
That Sony Flair definitely shows in the design of PS5 Media Remote. Clean look, shape, how it feels in your hand, and patented PS5 plastic textures all make it a pleasure to use it. I would say that this is even better than a touch perspective than my Apple TV remote.
Even the PlayStation button seems to be just a logo, until you realize that it is actually a button. The only real negative side is that it becomes dirty from handling (as you can see in my picture above) because it is white. So I really want Sony to create a black version. It used to be the color of its choice.
Sony’s software may be better
As much as I prefer media remote as a piece of hardware, I want to do something about Sony Disc player software. It is still fundamentally the same control plan as the DVD player interface on my Playstation 2, and I think it can at least with an alternative interface when it finds out when it finds out that you are using the remote and not a controller. Small icons are not just very comfortable, regardless of the control method you are using.
As a remote, I would like to strip its next recurrence at least a few types of touch, which will allow you to scroll properly through a video timeline in which you can do with an Apple TV remote. This is really the only feature that I was actively missing when using media remotes. If you are on the fence about obtaining yourself, I would say that if you ever use your PS5 to see streaming or disc-based media, it is worth $ 29,99, it goes mostly for time.
