Pocketbook Inkpad EO Review
As soon as I pulled the inkpad EO out of my packaging, my first idea was, “Ooh, it’s different.” It is anatomically unlike any pocketbook device I have tried earlier, with a premium and heavy construction that it has been borrowed from the case-it is made possible after becoming a co-owner of the Chinese brand.
This was a good step because the metal-bound chassis feels nice to catch and despite the 8MP rear camera, there is no collision, so it is completely flat on a table. However, metal edges and cameras may be used that some of its competition has been made heavy (at 470 grams), such as onyx box 10.3 (375 g), and uncomfortable to hold for long sessions. I have tested other 10-inch ek writing tablets and most of them are more comfortable than inkpad EO.
Apart from its design, there are some other positivity that I appreciate about the Pocketbook Inkpad EO. A global handwriting feature is to adopt-the ability to write on the third-party apps-which is not always supported in other appper notes taking note and may speak some potential buyers well. The other color is the palette – while the cobo color is also not customized as a screen of Libra, the book cover looks beautiful in the covered color on the inkpad EO. However, it is not quite translated into ink colors while writing or drawing and they are washed far more.
And this is the place where my positivity for this device stops. While I appreciate the attempt to compete on onyx box equipment, EO is unable to hold its hold in other areas.
For the beginning, the stylus is very easy to lose as it does not secure magnetically on the edge of the tablet. In addition, the eraser on top of the pen does not behave expected – it is more selector, and is to disappear after You have chosen something in the notes app. This is not a huge interval, but I like very much that the way the Kindle Scribe’s premium pen or Cobo Styles 2 behaves – as you walk with writing (or drawing), such as a real pencil eraser. Even remarkable markers and box pens disappear in real time.
The camera is not worth it at all, despite having a good touch. This does not actually ‘scan’ a document as you can call – instead it takes a photo. And the quality of the image is not either great, a lot is like onyx box Palma 2.

One thing that you expect to do easily with any ereader is transfer files, but even basic tasks were disappointing with the inkpad EO. While the dropbox support (and I am not a user of this cloud service), no cable transfer from MacBook is possible (I am not even a Windows user). All possible solutions recommended by Pocketbook that I met online to transfer e -books to library application, did not work and I had to resort to using microSD cards instead. This worked well, as well as allowed me to add custom fonts, and a restarted the latter easily enables. Even the BOOX device does not support Apple, but it is still very easy to transfer the files without using the microSD card, and it is thanks to the boxdrop and Google drive support.
It is also not easy to check if the file imports (through the microSD card in my case) have been successfully completed on the inkpad EO. There is no progress and the files do not uncheck if imports. Funny, there is a gray-out import button with a check mark, but it is barely visible.

Even Ghosting is a huge issue. Almost every app and every page results in light overlays of the back screen, which can be distracted after a while because you keep expecting this to happen. And despite adopting several refreshed rate options despite this pocketbook, which are also the BOOX devices, and yet it is better. I found that the best refresh rate setting to reduce the ghosts on the inkpad EO is Regal option, but the only way to choose is to choose custom mode, otherwise it is taken out. This is a simple thing and should be available as one of the default options.
Inkpad is the first appar writing tablet from EO Pocketbook that I have tested, but the user interface was immediately familiar. It is notable and like a love child of BOOX, which is more inherited since. And, of course, this means that the EO struggles with similar issues that I had earlier complained about Box. The interface is climk and is not very well -organized, until they should be easier to access with significant submens.
I am also not even thinking about a tablet released in April 2025. Android 11 is running. It is now old and even though I do not expect a problem on the device like an e-ink note-taking tablet, it is definitely time to move forward-even BOX has adopted Android 13.
There are other small bugs that can be fixed through a firmware update, but are currently, rather annoying. For example, tapping on the home icon does not take you to the home screen – it just refreshes the screen you are already doing or takes you to the home page of the app you were using.
Another example is that even if the pocketbook has thought of adding the frontlight setting one night and at bedtime, both of them are very bright by default and require manual adjustment anyway. So there was no use of those presets, at least for me who prefer a dim screen light when reading at night.
Long story short, pocketbook needs to be improved. Inkpad EO has a good appar writing tablet, but, as is now, it is difficult to recommend that there are other brands that do a better job at the same or low cost.

Pocketbook Inkpad EO Review: Price and Availability

The Pocketbook Inkpad EO was announced at the end of March 2025 and is available from April to buy selected markets from third-party vendors. With the price tag of $ 550 / £ 449 (about AU $ 850), it is an expensive e -ink -taking tablet, but then there is such anxiety incarnation, from which it signs its indication, as other colors are 10 in ink writing tablets.

Although we have not tested the BOOX Note Air4 C, we have preferred the previous generations and, as an inkpad EO for the EO-NOTE of the same size, with the same screen technique and very similar UX, it can buy it better at $ 529.99 / AU $ 874 (Ships for 465 pounds for UK).
At the time of writing, Inkpad EO is not being listed at many American stores, however Amazon has listed it for $ 579It is being well stocked in the UK, however, although prices vary slightly. For example, Amazon UK has placed it down for £ 504.26But Currys lists it for £ 499Laptop Direct is the only UK retailer Stock it for £ 449 At the time of writing.

How I tested Pocketbook Inkpad EO
- Used as erader and note taking every day for three weeks
- Some Android apps including Kindle and Cobo to read were downloaded
- Heard some audibook and music files to test the quality of the speaker
I have tested around 30 ereders in the last eight years, so I have developed a routine on starting a new review. First of all, I connect to Wi-Fi to set the device, then immediately see if I can transfer some eBooks and comic files for testing. And if this pocketbook is a note -taking tablet like an inkpad EO, I start a new notebook, called Scribals, where I test writing, drawing and handwriting recognition.
I did all this for the inkpad EO, then signed in Google Play Store to download some other apps, including some benchmarking because I am always eager to see how the processor performs.
I spent about 30 hours in a period of three weeks to read e-books, and took notes related to all my work on Inkpad EO. This gave me a lot of experience with the functioning of the tablet. I also tried a rear camera a few times, as well as tested all the fresh rate options and various settings.
Given my experience with various brands of ereaders and e ink writing tablets, I was able to compare inkpad EO with onyx box, kindle, kobo and notable competition.
