Therefore, non-human visitors are not new at all. Bots have been scrolling on the web since the 90s, but the search is changing and developing and website owners now need to start preparing to visit their site of AI agents.
I don’t believe? Jason Mayis, Web AI lead in Google, recently speaking in WordCamp Europe said: “Now we are entering the age where AI agents are growing in popularity”. One of the best web hosting providers, Hostering, also believes and has recently launched a new tool to create a llms.txt file for WordPress sites.
AI agents are operated by large language model (LLM) such as Gemini of Google, Cloud of Anthropic and Chat of Openai. These models can read and understand lessons like a human, but there are things that we can help in understanding websites better. Such as how robots.txt and sitemap.html helps to navigate traditional search methods and understand websites, llms.txt AI tolerate the purpose for agents.
To learn more about AI agents, llms, and how they are shaping the search, I spoke in Saulius Lazaravičius, VP of VP of Hostinger, about new equipment to create llms.txt files.

Traditionally, people find online information through search engines such as Google, which rely on robots. But with the rise of AI tools such as chat and clouds, more users now get direct answers from the big language model (LLM), bypassing traditional discovery.
This is the place where llms.txt file comes. This acts as a map for the AI system, which helps them to identify and understand the most important parts of a website. LLMS.TXT provides file:
- A clear, priority list of major pages of the site
- Brief summary for page content
- Link to more detailed, official resources
Robots.txt and placed with sitemap.xml, llms.txt file improves AI engine complex site structures- increasing the visibility of the site in the AI-generated answers.
Is there currently any data that shows the advantage of being llms.txt with robots.txt and a sitemap.xml?
Currently, adopting llms.txt is still in its early stages, using less than 1% of the top one million websites, it has been used in early 2025. However, the share of traffic coming from AI platforms is steadily increasing. For example, the use of AI-managed search between adults in the US is estimated to be more than doubled until 2028.
While hard data on llms.txt effectiveness is still emerging, the broad concept of “SEO for AI” – also known as generative engine optimization (Geo) – is receiving traction. The owners of the website are looking for ways to make their content more accessible and relevant to the AI system. Llms.txt is an initial, active step in that direction.
What makes a good llms.txt file, and how do you get it through a click?
A well -structured llms.txt file is clean, simple, and focus on surfaceing the most valuable material of the site for the AI system. It usually starts with the main address of the website, followed by the selected pages that the AI model should prefer. Alternative details can be added to clarify material structure or hierarchy.
The file is hosted on the root of the website (eg domain.TLD/llms.txt) and is easy to set-especially with automatic tools such as our one-click llms.txt file manufacturer.
Importantly, applying a llms.txt file has no negative impact on the traditional SEO. It is an forward-looking, active step that makes a site more accessible to the AI tool-now and in the future both.
How soon do you see llms.txt becoming a web standard?
With the AI playing a growing role with how people discover the material, more businesses will need to adapt not only for the search engine, but also for the AI system. This adoption is expected to increase significantly over the next few months or years.
It is still not clear whether llms.txt will become a long -term standard. It can develop in some more sophisticated like NLWEB or API-powered solutions. But the concept of making easily digestive materials for AI is to live here.
In hostinger, we are committed to giving a competitive edge to our customers. That is why we were among the first people to offer automatic llms.txt file construction, and we will continue to develop our equipment as Geo landscape changes.
Are there any other things that the owners of the website can do to improve the visibility of their site for AI?
Like traditional search engines, AI systems seek valuable, high quality materials. This means that making really useful information for people, making sure that the site is sharp, mobile friendly, and easy to navigate, and the material is technically accessible to crawling and indexing.
The owner of each website should understand that AI-supported browsing is here and it is growing. This means that they should constantly check what is new in the area of Geo and look for the devices that expose their website content for LLMS. Today, llms.txt is a strong first step.
Further, we believe that the websites may develop towards the model reference protocol (MCP) interface, where the material is not only displayed for humans, but is served through MCP-Sangat API, and AI agents will consume it on behalf of users.
