The latest original film of Prime Video is an explosive action flick that I am sure many viewers will enjoy, based on its ridiculous basis alone. “Heads of State” is a film under consideration, and it earned a place in my list of most anticipated Prime Video release in this summer.
After seeing the trailer a few weeks ago, I was definitely conspiring and thought it seemed like chaos in the best way. Now that it has been officially dropped on prime video and I have got a chance to see it, I can confirm that despite its bright flaws, some solid popcorn entertainment saves.

But instead of playing offbeat antihro, the pair now plays more high-power roles, as the heads of the government throw the headfresp in a high-dot international emergency.
This is not aiming for the season of awards, but if you are in dramatic action, not likely, and a lot of massacre, it is the kind of fun ride that will engage you for just two hours. Therefore, if you are watching something to watch on prime videos this week, it is here that the “Heads of State” is worth adding your wochelist.
What is ‘Heads of State’?
The “leading states” follows US President Wil Derringer (John Cena), who was the head of the state of a former action star, and the UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba), an experienced former ‘SAS officer.
After a terrible security, the Air Force One, they avoid murder in the middle of a joint diplomatic mission. With their compromise with their protective units, Derringer and Clarke are forced into a stressful cross resustional rich discovery, which depends on each other to survive completely.
The Mi6 operative Noel Biset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), they cross the hostile field, rapidly clues together to highlight a deadly global conspiracy, which aims to destroy their governments.
‘Major states’ will continue to entertain you for 2 hours
The biggest compliment I can give the “head of the state”, it is that it entertains you, meaning that you will not be able to find yourself about reaching your phone or thinking about turning off the TV. It is a really pleasant clock that dives Elba and Cena into explosive action scenes, and I think most people will enjoy the pair a lot.
The “Heads of State” begins with a mission as the Mi6 agent Noel Biset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) noticed that his team shuts down the tomato throwing festival in Spain, and we believe that she dies with them. The scene then turns into the UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Elba), who wakes up on his couch feeling sad, goes to a jog, and soon finds out noel’s disappearance and what happened on the mission. It is clear that these two alone share a romantic history based on their response.
From there, the story kicks in the gear because we introduce Cena’s exaggerated but surprisingly affectionate character, who shares a melodious moment with her young daughter, telling about NATO, suggests that “there is solidarity to be united to a bully.”
With some less expectations, I did not expect that Cena and Elba had seen in some time for one of the most entertaining comedy pair. Their dynamic is cheerful, but for this there is also a strange actual heat that works surprisingly well. Most scenes have chemistry and they also inject the most basic moments with a ton of energy.
Cena plays the role of Derringer, a washed action star, which somehow ends as an US President-not so that he is worthy, but because he is famous. He bends into absurdity with an eyelid, clearly enjoying joking on himself.
Meanwhile, the Clarke of Elba is the total opposite: all businesses, its military background -shaped, and fully grounded. Elba plays her with the correct mixture of severity and sharp humor. There is tension between them and back and forth which actually runs the film.
And then there is Jonas, which catchs himself. His character, noel, is not just to tag because he is right for the thick and plot of action. She brings strength and appearance to every battle scene, and it is refreshed to see a woman in this style, which is not sidelined or reduced in a sidekick.
Ilya is known for the direction, “hardcore henry” and “no one”, which once again brings her trademark visual flair, and works. Action scenes include slick fight choreography with these wild explosions of physical comedy that are almost like cartoons (if cartoons were drenched in the blood and dialing to cruel levels).
As a story, it glues very close to the style playbook, so there is nothing amazing there. When the film tries to be serious, it looks a bit heavy and strange, which reduces speed. There is a distraction in those moments what the film really shines: action and comedic timing.
Whether it is ducking the bullets or trading a quick-wise feast with a lively patriot of Jack Quad, “Heads of State” is not correct, but it packs enough high-energy moments to attract your attention in a run of about two hours.

If you go to this action-comedy, the kind of intensive action you see in “John Vik” or even “James Bond” detected thriller aspects, I hate you from breaking it, but this is definitely not the case.
From the very beginning, the “heads of the state” know what it really is, completely bending in its monotonity and non -equality that is careless or attractive instead of cheese.
He said, it’s far from one Bad Movies. The “Heads of State” actually feels like a step from some recent release of prime videos and provides a lot of fun moments that will entertain you despite its clear flaws.
So, if you are looking for something with more meaning, it is probably not. But if you want just a light, fun film that knows how to not take yourself seriously, it is definitely worth checking out.
