The Norwegian Police Protection Service (PST) says that Russian -pro -hackers controlled the important operation system on a dam and opened the outflow valves.

The attack took place in April and it is believed that Russia’s ability was demonstrated to hack the important infrastructure in the country from a distance.

PST, at the Bedlsuka annual National Forum in the city of Arndal, the head of the Beat, Gangus, said that it was less than an attempt to cause losses compared to the performance of hackers.

During his talk about the subotage operation, Gangus said, “They are not necessarily a cause of destruction, but to show what they are able to do.”

The PST chief also said, “The purpose of such tasks is to increase the effect and create fear or disturbance in the population,” it is also said that Russia has become more dangerous.

As Local media reportHackers compromised a digital system controlling the water flow on the Bremangar Dam, and set the outflow valve in an open position.

Dam operators took about four hours to find and reversed malicious valve settings. By that time, however, 7.2 million liters (1.9 million gallons) flew through water.

Norway’s National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos) reached Same conclusion In June, based on the video that the Russian hectician published on the Telegram messaging service to prove their intrusion.

In particular, the hecticians published a three -minute video, shown to the control room of the dam, with a watermark associated with the Russian supporters Cyber Criminal Group.

Such acts have been linked to state-paved groups such as the first sandworm (APT44), and aims to exaggerate the impact claims to create fear and uncertainty, and humiliate publicly compromised organizations.

This is the second time when Russia is associated with attacks against Norwegian institutions, with a denial-service (DDOS) attack on the state services of the last one country.

Norway’s intelligence chief, Nils Andreas Sensonas said, while Norway is not in war with Russia, President Putin maintains tension through hybrid attacks against the entire West.

Sensonas depicted Russia as an unexpected neighbor and the greatest threat of Norway is currently.
