Proton has launched a new tool, called Lumo, which offers a privacy-first AI assistant that user does not log to conversations and does not use its signals for training.

The introduction of Lumo aligns with this mission, as the proton claims that this AI tool is designed to provide help to users, maintain or share their data and hide the risky tasks in the closed-source code.
Instead, the Lumo Open-SOS is based on the large language model (LLMS) and uses the proton’s open-source encryption scheme. Proton also released the entire source code of the tool, so it is completely transparent for the community.
Lumo’s default setting is not to search online, remove all chats at concluding, and do not store server-side conversations.
“Other AI companies keep a record of all your conversations on all their servers, leaving this information unsafe for data leaks or exploitation,” Reads the announcement,
“Lumo does not keep any log on your conversation server side, and any chat you saved can only be declined on your device.”
The interface of Lumo resembles the mainstream LLM services, while the tool supports the file uploads with full encryption support.

The infrastructure of Lumo is located in Europe, where GDPR is applied, so no sensitive data is transmitted to courts with weak data security rules.

At the time of launch, Lumo supports and reacts to English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, with additional languages will be gently added.
