
Zero Day initiative is giving a reward of $ 1 million to security researchers, who will demonstrate a zero-click WhatsApp exploitation in their upcoming PWN2OWN Ireland 2025 hacking competition.
The record boumy targets zero-click safety defects that allow code execution without user interactions on the message platforms used by more than three billion people worldwide.
Meta, PWN2OWN Ireland with Synology and QNAP is co-providing the 2025 competition, which will be held from October 21 to October 24 in Cork, Ireland.

The competition consists of eight categories targeting mobile phones, messaging apps, home networking equipment, smart home devices, printers, network storage systems, surveillance equipment and wearable techniques, including Meta’s Ray-Ben Smart Glass and Quest 3/3S headset, as well as Samsung Galaxy Pixel 9 and Apple iPhogy Pixel 9 and Apple iPhogy Pixel 9 and Apple iPhone 16 Flagships.
The ZDi has expanded the attack vector for the mobile category to incorporate USB port exploitation for mobile devices for mobile category, requiring the contestants to compromise on the phone locked through physical connections. The registration closes at 5 pm on October 16 at the Irish standard time, with a competition order set by a random drawing. Zero Day initiative conducts the event to identify weaknesses before exploiting malicious actors, which can coordinate disclosure responsible with affected vendors.
After exploiting flaws during PWN2OWN incidents, vendors have 90 days, which publicly disclose them to issue security updates before the trend micro -day initiative.
Last year’s PWN2OWN Ireland event honored $ 1,078,750 for more than 70 unique zero-day weaknesses, collected viettel cyber security for the faults displayed in QNAP NAS, SonOS speaker and lexmark printers.
