
Wireless charging is going to happen very fast.

QI2 25W will provide about 70% more strength than the original 15w QI2, which was launched in November 2023.
The new standard will be available on iPhones and “major Android smartphones”. The WPC says that in a limited launch last week, 13 devices, receivers and transmitters completed the QI2 25W certification test, and are waiting to test several hundred. Probably, including phone, charger and power banks.
Within one year of introduction of QI2 15W, more than 1.5 billion certified QI2 transmitters and receiver were in the world worldwide.
Prior to QI2, WPC states, smartphone manufacturers developed their own fast charging protocols and accessories. According to the WPC release, some brands were capable of charging before the pre-15W standard, but QI2 25w “is actually the first standard for enabling high-speed Qi certified wireless charging.”
This is especially big news for Android users. Android first started wireless charging, but even as an Android person as my whole life, I can accept that Apple has left them far behind. On the Android side of the fence, one of us has been re-designed to use the workaround or third-party products.
