In an event on Tuesday, Amazon Unveiled A series of new AI-operated features for its latest ring cameras and doorbells.
The features will enable ring users to recognize the faces of visitors and find lost pets by connecting with other ring users in the same neighborhood. Amazon also launched an Alexa+ feature that serves as a smart doorbell assistant, providing details of visitors before responding to users’ doors.
The ring is also introducing its first 4K product line with “retina vision”, a new imaging technique designed to provide clear videos.

The most notable feature that appeared in the event was the “familiar face”, which uses AI to identify friends and family. Users can enroll the faces of their loved ones in the device, allowing the ring to be able to alert a visitor. The AI user will be alert even when an unfamiliar person is detected, which helps them to make informed decisions.
The company explained In today’s blog post This new feature is to eliminate the estimates to empower customers and explore people to reduce the information triggered by regular activities of customers familiar people.
Ring founder Jamie Siminoff told the press at the event, “If you don’t recognize anyone, you are not recognizing it, you will immediately know (they are unfamiliar).”
Ring has faced criticism for its close relationship with its history of law enforcement and poor data management. Last year, following several complaints, the company announced that it would no longer accommodate police requests for footage from ring users without warrant.
