MIT engineers are found in robot ping-pong games with a powerful, light design that returns shots with high speed accuracy. The new table-tennis bot includes a polynomial robotic hand that has been fixed to one end of the ping-pong table and runs a standard ping-pong paddle. Aided by several high-speed cameras and a high-bandwidth predictive control system, the robot estimates the speed and trajectory of the coming ball and executes one of the many swing types to hit the ball in a desired place on the table with loops, drives, or chop-different types of spin.

The University of Michigan will help a new 10,000-gallon (38,000-liter) water tank researchers to design, construct and test various types of autonomous water systems that can help conduct robot map lakes and inspection of lakes and oceans and ships and bridges. Long-Herizon scheme is fundamental to our ability to solve complex physical problems, from using the tool to cooking dinner. Despite the recent progress in the Commonance-Rich Foundation model, the ability to do so is still lacking in robots, especially with learning-based approaches. In this dialogue, I will introduce a body of work, aimed at changing the work and speed plan-each of the most powerful computational framework in the robot scheme, in a completely general model structure, enables creative generalization in a large-scale data-driven approach.
