Roku announced today (1 May) that there is a streaming platform Buying streaming service frndly tv,
This is another feather in the hat of Roku, which is a larger year with new streaming devices and features that come in 2025.
Friendly TV service is a relative newcomer, founded out of Denver, Colorado in 2019. Frndly provides its customers access to more than 50 live TV channels including A&E, History Channels, Lifetime and Game Show Network. It also comes with unlimited cloud-based DVR with on-demand material and recording that starts at $ 6.99/month.
In a press release, Roku founder and CEO Anthony Wood said, “The impressive development and expertise of Friendly TV in direct-to-consumer membership services makes it a compelling addition to the stop.” He said that Friendly TV’s live content Prasad is part of Roku’s meditation on increasing the stage.
Friendly pitching herself as the “cheapest live TV streaming service in the US”. Based on the fact that we can find the channels on the proposal, they are all those who offer friendly “feel-gud programming”.
Currently, Frndly TV is available on several platforms including Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Google TV, Apple TV, Samsung, Wiso and Roku as well as Mobile. Roku says it will continue to “get available” at those places.
“This combination will help us accelerate membership growth, with the reign of the core customer demographics and the leadership of the Roku in the TV ecosystem,” Andy Businesski, Friendly TV CEO and co-founder said, which is considered to live after sale.
Tier from the membership that we can tell that will not change the friendly TV offer. Currently, service provides three membership levels; Basic, classic and premium. The original level gives you SD quality video with Live TV and with Demand Prasad. Classic ($ 7.99/month) level HD, two “simultaneous screen” and three months unlimited DVR enhances the quality of the video for recording. The premium ($ 9.99/month) gets 9 months DVR recording and four screen together.
Each channel provides service available at each level.
It is an interesting acquisition as Roku provides many live channels with already free shows and rotating selection of films and Roku origin, which can be streamful on the best Roku devices.
However, now, Roku does not offer any DVR type services. It is not clear from the press release of Roku, “how FRNDLY will be integrated with the Roku service beyond the current app which is already available.
