This video has been another hard week for the game industry and the decline from Microsoft’s trimming was a funding cut in Romero Games, John and Branda Romero’s studio.
Now, after some claims, the studios had completely closed their doors, the Irish publication Journal clearly got the official confirmation about this in a statement by Branda Romero (Thanks, push square,
It has been mentioned how the decision was made at “high levels” within Microsoft and well over the studio’s “visibility and control”.
“This is exactly not a reflection of our team’s work, performance or project quality. We hit every milestone every time, every time we are breaking hearts that it has come on it.”
Romero Games allegedly appointed 42 studio members “directly”, with “more than 100” people a broad network for its latest project.
A “anonymous” staff member of the Gaulway-based studio reported that this is a “big shock” as the team had only held meetings with the publisher of “Before this happening”. There was clearly no warning, and it has been claimed that “there is no remaining money to continue operations”.
John Romero was one of the co-producers of Doom, and he co-established with his wife, went to release several titles including SIN’s strategy RPG Empire for SIN for Switch in 2020. The same developer also released Sigil and Sigil 2 for Doom + Doom II.
