We are likely to look at Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 at the Samsung’s Summer Unpacked event next month, and there is not much that has not already leaked. But now we have got the first glimpse of Samsung’s next-round foldable with our predecessor, to see how its rumors upgrade get stacked-and the Galaxy Z fold 6 looks comparatively like a brick.
This week, Korean YouTube channel Thesinza A Samsung Galaxy Z fold 7 dummy unit was shared a hand-concluded video compared to last year’s Z fold 6 as well as Z fold SE, exclusively released in China and Korea.
With competitors such as Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold and Motorola Razr 2024, the race is getting hot for the best foldable phone Crown. And it is clear that Samsung has taken notice. The video confirms that the leaked Galaxy Z fold 7 render of these weeks has already indicated: Samsung has cured two of the biggest problems of the foldable with this upcoming generation.

First, its profile. In the video, Z fold 7 is quite slimmer and has a larger screen than Z fold 6. It measures only 4.5 mm thick compared to its predecessor 5.6 mm. For perspective, the Galaxy S25 clocks in 5.8 mm edge, and its thin profile is its largest selling point that distinguishes it from Samsung’s flagship like the Galaxy S25.
When folded, fold 7 near the fold 7, compared to 12.1 mm of fold 6. The larger display Z fold 7 looks close to something like a premium Galaxy S25 Ultra than its predecessor.
Galaxy Z Folds Broke with 7 tradition
The dummy unit also confirms that Samsung has planned to dig the camera of Z. Fold 6, which has been standard since the Galaxy Z Fold 3, for a punch-hole camera on the inner display of Z. Fold 7.
Under the performance is as a technical achievement to tuck a camera, it often comes at the price of image quality, as the camera has to capture photos through screen layers. Switch back on punch-hole camera in the main display should not affect the purposeful, but it can significantly improve the practicality of the camera for selfie and video calls.
Will this upgrade Samsung be sufficient to bring back to the top of our best foldable phone guide? We will hold the final decisions until the details are confirmed and we have some time with the Galaxy Z fold 7.
We should not be long to wait. While Samsung has not yet revealed a launch date, it looks like Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Watch 8, can come in a new Galaxy Unpacked Showcase on 9 July.
