Saucony Ride 18: One minute review
I should accept that I was not a very big fan of Saucony Ride 17. While it was a solid all-rounder, I received a lot of intrusion internal molding and always felt that I wore a support shoe instead of a neutral trainer. Finally, it didn’t just work for me, and I gave it to a friend (who loved it!).
As a result, I was hesitant to try the ride 18, even though I knew it was a popular model with a lot of great credentials, but I was pleasant surprised. With just a few subtle turns, Saucony has created a more comfortable shoe that makes my feet completely mold.
It just goes to show that small changes can make all differences. Increased structure in the upper, a touch more heel cushioning and bonus foam materials are particularly highlight. The best, trainer of all comes at an affordable price, which means that it is a great price-of-key workheors, which is perfect for those easy and long runs.
Like Brook Ghost, The Ride 18 is likely to be a favorite for those looking for a cushion ride. It has been a full game changer for me and ride 18 is now easy run and my go-to road shoe for everyday training.

Saucony Ride 18 Review: Design

- Additional cushioning foam
- Are more pronounced
- No other heel bridge-tab
Saucony ride 18 maintains too much DNA which has made its predecessor popular, yet introduces a series of subtle treatment that combines to give more responsive and comfortable rides. The trainer still appoints an 8 mm heel-to-foot drop, a specification that appeals to runners seeking a balanced infection without a clear inclination. The underfoot, PWRUN+ Midsole content has been enhanced with additional cushioning foam, resulting in an improvement in energy withdrawal despite a marginal reduction in overall weight. This increased foam content not only makes the shoe feel alive, but also increases the comfort factor.
A close look at the outsol is more clearly clearly clearly manifested than 17. More many flakes grooves provide increased grip on different types of surfaces and encourage more stable, confident progress. The re-designed trade pattern also appears more wear-resistant, suggests that it will maintain performance in a long lifetime.
Above the midsol, the engineer knit up the upper has been re -worked to offer more stretch and conformity around the foot. The device-night construction wraps snuggly to the midfoot, eliminates noticeable internal arch of the previous model and provides a smooth, more uniform pressure distribution. An additional layer of cushion in the heel collar further protects the leg, prevents slippery due to discomfort or hotspot during extended runs.
At the forefront, generous yet allows cumbersome toe-box volume without feeling loose to the natural toe. The throne of the tongue has been adapted to a balance between comfort and minimalism, which offers enough cushioning to prevent lace without batting. The lace system now includes an additional hole, which enables various lockdown configurations for an individual fit. The heel bridge-table has been removed, but it always seems to be great for me, anyway.
Overall, the design updates of ride 18 – enhanced foam, sophisticated walk, adaptive upper and sewn fit – mix in a package that feels soft, light and helpful.
Saucony Ride 18 Review: Performance

- Solid track shoe
- Along with the roads, the light also handles trails
- Most distance is good for
I kept the saucony ride 18 through my pace on both my regular road run and interval track sessions, where I was doing 400 meters and 800 meters representative, or pacing athletes to smash 5K PBS. On the track, the shoe felt exceptionally smooth and consistent, simply offering enough pop from midsole responsible to maintain a metronomic speed without fatigue. The infection from the heel to toe remains fluid, even when the speed between repetition is transferred.
Despite its track process, the ride was proved to be sufficiently versatile for 18 roads outing and light trail adventures. Reliable cushioning and grip inspired confidence on various surfaces, reliably relieved to do anything for 20-miles from a sharp pararun for a long time. Outsol’s traction handled the moist tormac and gravel evenly.
Although competent in general interval sessions, ride 18 still lacks a dedicated racing flat or ultra-lightweight feel of carbon-plated shoes and lack of accountability (but then, it is not designed to run like this). But for everyday training, Tempo runs and mixed-sattah routes attack an impressive balance of comfort, stability and performance.
