Openai Chatgpt is updating the search, which is its web search tool in Chatgpt, to give users a better online shopping experience, the company announced on Monday.
When Chatgpt users search for products, the chatbot will now present some recommendations, images and reviews for the objects, and will include direct links to webpages where users can buy products. Openai says that users can ask hyper-specific questions in the natural language and get customized results. To start, Openai is experimenting with categories including fashion, beauty, household items and electronics.
Openai Chat is facilitating chat, plus, and free users in the default AI model for GPT-4o as well as a default AI model for free users worldwide.
The Chatgpt Search Update is part of the attempt to compete with rival Google by creating a better, more personal experience to find products and information on the Internet. Online shopping is one of the most important businesses of Google, but the advertising market has also contributed to the declining quality of the product over the years to buy priority placements in Google Search.
Openai claims that its search product is growing rapidly. The users discovered more than one billion web in Chatgpt last week, the company told Techcrunch.

Openai says that it is independently determined the results of the Chatgpt purchase, and notes that advertisements are not part of this upgrade for chatgpt search. According to Openai, the purchase results will be based on third parties, such as pricing, product descriptions and reviews based on metadata. The company will not receive a kickback from the purchase made through the CHATGPT search.
Openai CEO Sam Altman has historically been against advertisements in chat, but in one Recently interview With Stratechry’s Ben Thompson, he changed his tune a bit. Altman stated that he would be open to “delicious” advertisement in which Openai charges the affiliated fee for the purchase made via Chatgpt, but does not sell priority placements in their results.
Soon, Openai says it will integrate its memory feature with purchases for Pro and Plus users, meaning that Chatgpt will refer to the user’s previous chat to make highly individual product recommendations. The company had earlier updated Chatgpt to refer to memory when we search. However, these memory features will not be available to users in the European Union, UK, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
With this update, the chatgpt discovery will now display trending discoveries when users start typing a question, much like the Autochact feature of Google Search. Additionally, the Chatgpt Search has come on WhatsApp, allowing users to get the company’s chatbot up-to-date answer.
Openai has first detected shopping features through its AI “agent” platform, operator, which takes dozens of web pages and takes a few seconds to several minutes to browse and find relevant products for users. Chatgpt search with shopping is a very sharp, experience experience on hands, and one which still allows users to search products using natural language questions.
