With Shinobi: The release date of Art of Vengens is now just 97 days away (not that we are counting), both Sega and Lizardkube are out and are sure to fulfill our growing desire for more information about their upcoming side-scrolling adventure.
Of course, this is not just any old adventure task and, like the previous work of Lejardcube, such as 4 on the streets of the streets and Wonder Boy: The Dragon Trap (both unprecedented), here we have a renovation, a reunion, after a long period of full modernization, one and only Shinobi. Pressure to separate a classic for age and rebuild it in such a way that it satisfies new people and staunch, while modern and ‘good’ also appear? These people have been there and have done so.
Talk to Game informator (Welcome, you guys!), Kagsi Shimomura, head of SEGA’s Content Production Unit, revealed how his department spent more than 60 years of historic IP which falls under Sega umbrella. Settling on a long -finished Shinobi series, which has not seen any new action on 3DS since the 2011 Xinobi 3D, the team began to take the plans into action.
Shimomura knew that some old arcade chain was kept alive to some extent through a collection of Sega ages, but that:
“We just wanted to make remakes or remakes of all the titles that are already around … We want people to enjoy and be satisfied with what we put there, and find ways to create new Sega fans.”
At the 2023 Games Awards, with the announcement of an entire swot from Sega to Classic Reboot – the complete plans of Shimomura were detected, including Golden X (Cool It, Grandd), especially on Shinobi.
Lizardkube was then drawn in the case, which is hardly surprising that they would transform just two retro IP into lusted Bengers by reviewers. Fortunately, the CEO of Dev of Paris and creative director, Ben Phetic, was excited by the possibility, describing during the interview how his team’s blood was boiled with enthusiasm, “as Big Sega fans”, on the idea of working on a new Shinobi.
Impressing Sega with a pitch, which demanded to balance the old and new, the lizard agreed that a 2D game as the most effective course of action, one who specifically took his inspiration from 1,2 and 3, while giving something new to the players and attached to the players.
FIQUET explains:
“We soon realized that if you wanted to care for the player what they are doing, who is fighting, then the fight would need to be more interesting. So you now have a lot of steps, and this is a very interesting mix, because it is a very interesting mixture, as it is like a beat-up-up in a platforming environment. You have a combo system, you have separated moves.”
Instead of giving a license to IP only for lizards, as Wonder Boys and Roads were done with streets, Sega has gone here, even down and dirty and suggesting about the art style of the game, of which, of which, Phetic is reserved, usually reserved for animated films. Indeed, the 1990s Sega Hits, The Lion King and Aladdin game, which should be said that it should be said that there are reference points for Shinobi: Art of Vengens in Look and Style.
Finally, Sega has passion for the project, a designer with more than 30 years of experience in Sega, Toru Ohara, fully joined with a team of his own, served as the main manufacturer on the Sega side, so that the right brush stroke and of course, the correct amount of respect for old shinobai games were paid to ensure the correct level of expression.
Ora itself seems excited and happy what it is being made, because he puts it:
“The game begins as a common action game, but it finally feels too much like a fight game, where you have all these different combo that you can choose because you can learn to learn more and more and be able to do more.”
It is hardly surprising that it is killing the teams involved in this way, you will only have to play the roads of Rage 4 for a very short time, which are working on these people at a higher level.
Full interview goes into too much details With much information on some other classics, how much Sega decided to join, so be sure to check it for more tidbits. Meanwhile, we are leaving for some backflip training and then down the supermarket for a packet of plastic Shurikane. It is not that we are excited for new Shinobi or anything.
