Former Playstation Exec Shuhei Yoshida is again on this, sharing ideas and feelings about the massive gaming industry including nintendo. And this time, he has been opened on Soni’s ideas on Nintendo Kit and Crysta Podcast,
Talking to the couple (thanks, My Nintendo News!), Yoshida – who shares that he got a lot of inspirations from Nintendo’s Games – Sony’s “Dharna” is focused on Xbox. At least, it’s internationally (from all around (from around 08:28,
Yoshida keeps it down for the hardware and equality in the Xbox and Sony, and the nintendo focuses on “family friendly” accessories:
“(Sony) see Microsoft as a competition because Xbox is very similar-demonstrations, hardware. Like a high-end console, mature game and ninstendo are very different, very different. Nintendo is very different, is a family friendly, is a game for all, and not about technology, and not about technology, it is more about having fun with friends and family and has always been bundled with many controllers.
Inside Sony, even when they make a commercial analysis, the nintendo does not show, so there is a competition market share between Playstation and Xbox, and they do not include Nintendo. It is not that they are ignoring Nintendo, but that they are not necessarily competing nintendo because Nintendo is covering a separate audience. ,
Yoshida is full of praise for the company based in Kyoto throughout the podcast, saying that “we all feel that it is very good to be successful for Nintendo so that we can increase the industry simultaneously”.
But there is a market, where, uncertainly, Sony Does Consider Nintendo as a fierce competition: Japan. You have seen it on the weekly Japanese chart, where the nintendo switch game (and now 2 game switch) dominates the sale number regularly, so we are no longer surprised to hear this to the president of the retired Sie Worldwide Studio.
Yoshida-San talks about the notion that in a little more detail here:
“Nintendo is extremely strong in Japan, and Xbox is not almost present … I must be careful that I can get hate messages! It is very difficult to see where Xbox is, even though PC gaming is becoming a bit more popular in Japan.
But all this is about Nintendo vs Soni. So Playstation people working in Japan clearly see Nintendo as a clear competition, but outside Japan, people of Playstation clearly see the Xbox as a primary competition. ,
So there is nothing Very Going here – Nintendo is talking about it, exactly dominates in Japan, while Sony is doing well somewhere else and is competing with the Xbox for the Big Powerhouse market share worldwide.
But Switch 2 is doing very well in its early days, so perhaps Sony will need to rethink? The new console has sold 3.5 million units in just four days worldwide, and there are about one million from Japan – at least according to Femitsu data.
You can see the full interview at the top, but tell us what you think about Yosida’s comments.
