The Sony Linkbody series has always been a special from the brand, as it also brings some innovation. Whether the open-ring design in earbuds or more, the company always tries to give something unique with its linkbuds series. And now, advancing this heritage, we have all-new Sony linkbuds fit, a new pair of mid-range wireless earbuds that focus on fitness-centered users. The latest earbuds bring some signatures Sony audio quality and a light and premium design for a price tag of Rs 18,990. So, does it make sense to go for these new earbuds at a time when the competition is quite terrible? Let’s find out in this review.
Sony Links Fit Designs and Features: compact and comfortable
- Size – 21 x 19 x 15 mm (buds); 47.2 x 47.2 x 32.6 mm (Case)
- Weight – 4.9g (each bud); 41 g (with case)
- Water and dust resistance – IPX4 (only buds)
- Color – green, white and black
The first and most important thing you will see about earbuds is a unique mini hamburger case. It looks compact, making it easier to move with you. I like the fact that this case comes with a mixture of a glossy top so that it looks premium and a rubber -rich base for additional grip. With a button to reset the settings, there is a USB Type-C port at the back, while the front has a small LED light to indicate pairing and charging status.
Sony linkbuds fit is available in three color options: white, black and green.
Earbuds are available in three color options: green, white and black. I got the black color option for reviews, and I have to say that it looks minimal, although the bright surface is susceptible to scratching.
Opening the case lid, you will be congratulated with one of the most comfortable earbuds available in India. Clock in only 4.9 grams per bud, making them some of the lightest in the industry. It also comes what Sony said to air-fitting supporters, which allows you to turn and lock the buds in your ears.
The tail is soft and more viable than most of the plastic points available in other sports-oriented earbuds, but they still hold them quite strongly. Therefore, even if you are running, shaking your head, or doing a somaras, linkbuds will not fall fit.
Earbuds come with the IPX4 rating, causing them to sweat during workouts.
Interestingly, earbuds also have an IPX4 rating, which means that they can face sweat and light rain without much trouble. Earbuds also come with gestures control, which were not accurate, to be honest. They are equipped with wide area tap functionality, which allows users to control the headset, separate from the earphone, by tapping on the earphone.
This feature seems interesting but comes with a proper stake of flaws. There were times when the earbuds did not register the tap gesture. That said, you can adapt to gesture control from the application, although you still have to undergo a learning state to identify the sweet space to use the control of gestures.
Sony Links Fit App and Specifications: Easy-Using Interface
- Driver – 8.4 mm
- Saathi App – Connect Sony Sound
- Gesture Control – Yes (tap)
Sony linkbuds fit with a fellow app through which you can control many tasks. Sony Sound Connect app is available on Android and iOS platforms, which is good. The app interface is quite easy to use, and you get important information on the home screen, such as battery percentage, noise canceled options, and more.
You can get easy access to equalizer, speech-to-chat, background music effects and device settings on the home screen. The app gives you complete control to replace equalizer settings, sets 360 reality audio, measures earbuds for a safe fit, and much more. You can also customize gesture control using the app. By default, you get a double tap on the left bud to shift between ANC and surrounding sound, while the amount of taps will be reduced repeatedly. Similarly, tap double on the right bud, and you can play the music/stop the music, tap triple to change the song, and repeat the tap to increase the volume.
You can accommodate the five-band EQ or choose Sony’s preset like bright, sweet, vocal, comfort, excited, triple boost, bass boost, speech, and more through the app. Sony also has support for DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine), which helps to upscale low-resolution audio files for cleaner listening experience.
Coming into the specifications, Sony Linkbuds fit some flagship-grade features. The earbuds has an 8.4 mm dynamic driver X and provides advanced noise cancellation. It also comes with an auto environment sound mode that adjusts the level of noise cancellation on the basis of environment. Yearbuds also come with Sony’s integrated processor V2, which is also present in the flagship Sony WF-1000XM5. In addition, you get high-race audio certification. Sony Linques also supports fit SBC, AAC, LDAC and LC3 audio codec. Yearbuds come with Bluetooth 5.3 and multi-point connectivity.
Sony Links Fit Perform and Battery Life: High, Trust on Bass
- Codec Support: SBC, AAC, LDAC, LC3
- Charging – Wired (USB Type -C)
- Bluetooth – 5.3
Let’s start with the performance of canceling the noise of Sony Linkbards Fit. The earbuds are loaded with active noise canceled (ANC), which is quite effective, and you get three different modes: noise cancellation, surroundings sound and off. The noise cancellation works well in situations, although if you are looking at the same level of bose or apple, they are not just there. Once operational, earbuds are easily capable of cutting low frequencies. However, noise isolation is not as great as Sony WF-1000xm5. Even with ANC, you can still hear voices or claatering of dishes near your table. And this is not due to the quality of ANC but due to poor isolation.
Sony Linquates Fit comes with 8.4 mm dynamic driver and offers hi-race audio.
Coming to performance, Sony linkbuds fit an airy and strong soundstage, which is slightly heavy on the bass. The bass is powerful and prominent, but does not dominate Mids and higher. Therefore, Eminem’s IM, earbuds gave a good sound separation. The vowels were clear and loud, while the bass was at the point. With the loyalty of Kendrick Lamar, the earbuds handled the sub-bass quite well during the chorus.
Mids and high are civilized, although they cannot repeat the same output as we have seen in Sony WF-1000xm5. The mid-range may feel a bit. Highly clean, although they have an airy factor deficiency, which you can find in high-end models from Sony or Bose. I also liked that the company has supported various codes, making it easier to adapt to the needs of the listener. For example, with AAC, you can play the highest quality audio from your iPhone.
Wireless earbuds also comes with good microphone quality.
Yearbuds also come with a decent battery life. The company claims that you can backup up to 21 hours with the case and take up up to 7 hours on each earbud. During the testing period, I came to know that the yearbuds brought close to four hours backup with ANC. With ANC closure, you can get closer to six hours backup from each bud.
I found a 20 -hour playback close to the time with a charging case. Coming for charging speed, earbuds can be fully charged in 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours. Also, you will have one hour playback for charging 5 minutes.
Sony Linques comes with fit Bluetooth 5.3 and supports multi-point connectivity.
The quality of the call is also good. The microphone on linkbuds fit is enough to hold my voice and filter unnecessary background noise.
Sony Links Fit decisions
To conclude, Sony linkbuds fit is one of the most comfortable pairs of wireless earbuds available in this price section. Light design makes it comfortable to wear for a long time. Silicon tips and tales are comfortable, and you will not feel any discomfort while wearing these earbuds. It also makes the routine of the entire exercise a delight. In addition, with an IPX4 rating, you will not need to worry about sweat or light rain when exercising.
Yearbuds come with a special price of rupees. 18,990.
Performance is good for price. The sound profile is airy and porous. Earbuds have special emphasis on bass, but they also manage the mids and high effectively, although not as well as we have not seen in Sony WF-1000xm5. Active noise cancellation (ANC) works well, although the noise isolation is not so great, to be honest. Battery life is decent, if not great. Therefore, if you are one of those who like to work while listening to music and want a comfortable couple earbuds, you can consider them.
