Sony UBP-X800m2 4K Blu-Ray Player Review: One minute review
Sony UBP-X800m2 is the company’s major 4K blue-ray player, and it is a inexpensive price ($ 289 / £ 299 / roughly AU $ 481). It supports the Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos and DTS: a wide variety of disc formats including X soundtrack and SACD. It also includes built-in Wi-Fi for streaming from apps like Netflix and Prime Video.
The Sony UBP-X800m2 provides the quality of the picture that competes with the best 4K blue-ray players, showing the exact texture, bold color and excellent contrast. It regularly demonstrates luxurious apasms with a picture quality regeneration with both blue-rays and DVDs. This rival Panasonic DP-UB 820 (to keep in mind the film Persists) can not make the film grain accurately, but it is still an excellent player. Paired with one of the best TVs, it will serve any home theater system well.
The interface of X800m2 is on the dated and plain side, but it is very responsible and easy to navigate. There are a lot of settings on the proposal for both video and audio, but disappointing, its dolby vision setting is needed to be discontinued or closed. The player is confident of the price in itself, although the lack of an alphanumeric front panel display is a disappointment.
Although the X800m2 cannot offer much as the Panasonic DP-CUB820 and does not provide the same price to Step-Down Sony UBP-X700, it is still a magnificent 4K blue-ray player. Pair it with one of the best OLED TVs, and you will be happy.

Sony UBP-X800m2 is the main 4K blue-ray player of Sony, sitting above the Sony UBP-X700. At the time of launch in May 2019, it costs $ 299 / £ 350, putting it in a direct competition with Panasonic’s mid-range 4K Blue-Ray Player, Panasonic DP-OB 820.
Many years from the launch, prices in the US remain largely unchanged for the X800m2, although the discount appears sporadicly. In the UK, the stock is getting diluted, in which most units are available in the other hand. In some cases, prices have also increased (quite dramatically in some places), but I would only recommend buying it at or around my initial launch price.

Sony X800m2 has comprehensive DISC support including 4K Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray, DVD (in many formats), CD and SACD, of which the latter is not supported by several 4K Blu-Ray players, including more premiums such as Panasonic UB9000.
For HDR formats, X800m2 supports the dolby vision and HDR10 but not HDR10+. (Panasonic DP-Ib820, the nearest rival of X800m2, supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10+.)
The X800m2 Dolby Atmos and DTS: X (Bitstream) supports and decoded Dolby TrueD and DTS-HD soundtrack. HI-RS audio is also supported via USB, including 24-bit files and DSD (11.2 MHz).
The X800M2 has two HDMI outputs, one coaxial digital audio output, a USB port for audio and video file playback and an Ethernet port. It has a built-in Wi-Fi for streaming, which has access to some best streaming services including Netflix and YouTube, and the BBC iPlayer is pre-installed for UK-based customers. Analogs found on Panasonic DP-UB 82 are not audio output, but there is a Bluetooth wireless output for headphones. I saw while testing this facility La la Land, And the connection was solid only with minimal delay.
The X800m2 is responsible during use and is easy to navigate its menu. There are a good number of picture settings, including many 4K apasting options, and there are audio presets to improve the quality of low-resolution files. While it is easy to navigate and read, the interface itself is on the plain side, and it is the same old form as its more budget Sony UBP-X700 equivalent.
A frustration that carries from Sony UBP-X700 is that the dolby vision should manually turn on and off per disk; It does not function automatically on Panasonic players. Instead, the dolby vision setting is turned on, forcing the dolby vision regardless of the contents of the X800m2 disc.

X800m2 performed a low load time in my test. The disk tray took about 30 seconds from the discs loaded, which is in the first logo to appear on the screen, which is 5–10 seconds faster than the Panasonic DP-UB 820 and a full 30 seconds faster than the Panasonic DP-UB 150.
For testing, X800m2 was associated with a panasonic MZ1500 OLED TV.
X800m2 demonstrated the fantastic picture quality. When I saw 4K blue-ray BetmanBlack levels were rich and deep, and vice versa was powerful. The texture and details were true-to-life, and Dolby Vision HDR added additional visual punch. This was one such story Oppenheimer: Black and white scenes were presented with a full range of gray tones, creating a balanced and dynamic image.
Colors were also presented with a lot of lively punch. In the initial order of La la Land (In HDR10), the entire array of bright colored clothes on the performance looked natural, yet it looked vivid. This was also true for a later view where Mia’s yellow dress is shown against a dark background, although I noticed that in X800M2 my reference is a cooler color palette compared to the Panasonic DP-UB 820 player.
X800m2 also demonstrated excellent disassemunes. Watching the Blue-Ray version of BetmanFigure was very close to the 4K version, with only a slightly soft -looking texture. A DVD of The Amazing Spider Man Was not Extremely Hit 4K quality, but increase in texture cleaning improved the quality of the picture.
While X800m2 performed mostly accurate breeding with films, it smooth some films grains, something that would like to pay attention to purists. A view that I saw with a blue-ray Thief The film is a high level of grain, and while it was mostly maintained, the picture was very clean than the same disc played on Panasonic DP-UB 820. The same situation was held for BetmanA deliberate granular film.
X800m2 played innocent to Dolby Atomos Soundtrack and also released CD Playback.

Sony UBP-X800m2 4K Blu-Ray Player Review: Design

For a mid-range player, the X800m2 has a premium build quality, including a weighty, solid chassis which includes metal and plastic. The design is a specific plain black, but this opponent looks smooth and minimal than the 4K blue-ray players.
Similar to your step-down X700 counterpart, X800m2 does not have an alphanumeric LED display on your front panel, making it difficult to tell easily where you are in a film or see which screen/function you are using. It is disappointing that Sony’s leading player lacks this feature, which provides panasonic players.
Remote supplied the X800m2 is functional, but sad it seems cheap. This is an improvement on small supplied with Sony X700, but it is still not as easy to use as remotes supplied with 4K players of Panasonic.

At $ 289 / £ 299, Sony UBP-X800m2 is a great mid-range 4K blue-ray player, but a strange place that sits in a strange place. It has great features, including Wi-Fi for streaming, and its picture quality and accountability are excellent for a middle-range 4K blue-ray player. In the UK, however, a similar price Panasonic DP-UB 820 is perhaps better option with its more comprehensive HDR support. And in the US, Step-down is much cheaper than Sony X700 X800m2 and offers better overall bangs for your deer.

How did I test Sony UBP-X800m2 4K Blue-Ray Player
- Tested using a variety of discs including 4K Blue-Ray, Blue-Ray, DVD and CD
- Panasonic MZ1500 OLED tested with OLED TV
For my test of Sony UBP-X800m2, I added it to a Panasonic MZ1500 OLED, a TV with Dolby Vision HDR support.
To test the video and audio quality of X800m2, I mainly used reference scenes from 4K Blue-Ray, which includes Betman, La la Land, Top Gun MAVIRIC, More.
I used many regular blue-rays, including Thief, And like DVD The Amazing Spider Man To analyze the upskling of x800m2.
I also evaluated the video and audio settings of X800m2, its menu layout and its streaming capabilities.
