Love Spotify’s AI DJ or Hate It, you have to accept that this music is one of the most unique (and fun) methods to listen to. But unlike a real DJ, the version of Spotify always a “I hear, you listen” a kind of affair. Well, till now.
Spotify’s AI DJ now lets you control
Today, Spotify announced that it is adding a new way to interact with DJ through a post Spotify News RoomStreaming giants shared that DJ could now take music requests, allowing users to “a new way to cure the vibe of their hearing sessions in real time”.
With this new feature, you can just ask the DJ to switch to your jamming session, telling what music you want to hear in that moment. You can also ask the DJ to leave a specific style, mood, artist, or “request related to activity”. For example, you can hit the DJ with a request like “Play Some cool tracks for the rain night” to the DJ or “Surprise me with some jazz that I have never heard before.”
To use this feature in the spotify app, just head for Search Search below tab DJTap more DJ Playlist. When you want to make a request, keep press and press DJ Button in the right corner below.
Once the DJ is ready for you, you will hear a beep. Request yourself, and DJ will update the session based on your request, history, music preferences and more.
Prior to this change, if you did not vibi with DJ options, you all had done, the DJ button was killed in the right corner below, and it would change the song you were listening. With this new update, now you have more control of how the playlist flows, yet you will still be able to use DJ feature to listen and find new music without doing all the work.
I can imagine that the DJ has to nude to stop playing the tracks that I have been leaving for weeks, but it cannot be allowed to happen, and instead, play more about the Indie artist that I am recently loving!
I have always loved DJ feature. It is unique, and since I have this strange habit of continuous tracking (and psychoanalysis), my spotfit data is very good to see what I am listening recently, listening to DJ. Since sometimes you are not just in an environment where speaking is ideal, I want it to be a way to type your requests rather than speaking them.

I like Spotify’s Daylists a lot, but the man, Spotify needs some cold
These Spotify Playlist titles are different.
Given that the DJ is available to the spotify premium customers in only 60 areas, this option will not be accessible to free users (or located elsewhere other than markets where DJ is currently available). Although Spotify added a Spanish -speaking DJ in 2024, requests are only available in English. This feature is still exiting (I have not yet access to it, although I have DJs), so you may have to wait a little before seeing your end.
