Spotify Podcast is working hard to become a platform of choice for listeners and creators. So, it’s not surprising Spotify announcement In its latest feature launched on May 6, 2025, focuses strongly on the construction of that audience: now you can see how many times the podcast has been heard or seen. The new podcast feature, called “Plays”, is available for both audio-online and video podcast.
Play Counts have appeared for the music track on Spotify over the years, but this is the first time that it will be available to the metric podcast audience and creators. Spotify revealed that this metric would appear throughout the app, including podcast episode page, show page and home page. The creators will also be able to see on the spotify for megaphones and creators. Unexpectedly, podcast creators can use more wide insight, including consumption time metrics.
At the time of writing, I was unable to see the play counts for the podcast episode, which suggests that “drama” is still rolling out. If you have not yet seen it on your app, give it time; It should be visible soon.
