More than a year after its initial announcement, Starkware is launching S-to (Stark Two) in public alpha today.
S-two are the next generation zero-knowledge Stark Provers who are originally enough to run on consumer hardware. Developers will be able to start construction with S-Two today.
According to a press statement, S-Two will be able to generate stark proof directly on “phones, laptops and browsers … to enable new sections of smooth mobile experiences, fast browser-based apps and client-adamant and AI app. ,
A complete Starknet integration has been slated at the end of this year.
Various teams such as Kakrot, Nexus, Zan, Giza, Herodotus and more have started construction with S-Two.
Based on the team’s own benchmark tests, S-Two claim that the SP1 and 28X of the Succint’s SP1 and 28x on the specific workload claims to generate rapid evidence to rapidly up to 39x.
History of zk proving
In terms of blockchain, a supporter is an entity in a zero-knowledge system that produces mathematical evidence that the transaction is executed correctly and in compliance with protocol rules.
Historically, the proof generation was an expensive bottleneck. The rollup had to batch thousands of transactions in the same evidence, accepting a delay of several minutes or hours before publishing the result of the atherium.
For users, it means the boundaries of cross-chain composibility (aka synchronous composibility) and a return time caused by the proof-generation Times.
Enable recent successes in ZK Tech that Ethereum Devs usually refer to “as”Real -time“Or the ability to compress proof-generation delays only by seconds. In particular, block intervals of Athherium below 12 seconds.
With real-time proven, rollups can still finalize the block at a pass-L1 speed by enjoying a quick throwput and cheap fee of a L2.
S-TWO to prove client-side will also mean that users/rollups will no longer have to rely on reliable and centralized pro-clusters, which are usually hosted on AWS or Google Cloud.
With S-two, the evidence will be generated locally towards the client and will be directly presented to the Etreum, potentially to prove each browser a self-perfect node and reduce livene risks from single-hosted clusters.
A step towards zk endgame
Starkware is not alone in pursuing single-proclaimed evidence.
Last week, success Unveiled The SP1 hypercube, a multinier-coronomial zkvm that claims to be able to prove 93% of the atherium menet block in just 10.3 seconds.
The announcement praised (and caution) from vitallic butterin, which Tweeted That milestone represented real -time average The case, but that “the worst case of real -time for safe L1 use” was still a challenge.
Where the new ZKVM of Succint displayed that real-time block proofs are possible, showing new S-Two Proovers of Starkware. Consumer grade Hardware viability to prove real time.
A few years ago, it was thought It will never be ready to prove this real time soon.
“Run a zero-knowledge proof on your phone” was the only punchline.
Nevertheless, zero-knowledge technology accelerates with constant successes.
Users will never notice cryptography under the hood. However, they will notice, however, when the bridging takes only seconds instead of minutes and bakes into the privacy wallet – all without compromising the trustworthy.
