Monthly Steam Hardware Survey has some flawed functioning, as it only surveys a limited number of gamers that choose every month. This means that those surveyed often have a level of dedication to PC gaming over the average PC owner, which is why I am even more disappointed to see gamers that there is not much storage left. Gamers, in this example, also include me.
June 2025 Steam Hardware Survey Just came out now, and once again, the ‘Free Hard Drive Space’ category is dominated between 100 GB to 249 GB at 23.05%. Second place is 250 GB to 499 GB, with 22.43% and third place is a pathetic 10 GB to 99 GB, with 15.66%.
This survey reminded me that I need to clean some things, and I still have not a-not-gold 420 GB storage, divided between two SSDs. My poor main SSD has an average of 40 GB storage left.

Now looking at my storage, Baldur’s Gate 3, Black Myth: Wukong, and Red Dead Redemption 2 alone carry more than 400 GB. Given that I have intended to resume the Red Dead Redemption 2 and finally Black Myth: Wokong plays months ago, perhaps one of them can sit on the bench for now.
This month’s survey data shows that users above 1 TB of hard drive space make 52.12% in the survey. However, this specific figure does not tell the whole story, as it is only responsible for those with 1 TB, 2 TB, and no one is lucky that it is more than that. Despite this, this means that a significant part of the people will have more storage than 1 TB, yet their PC has only 100–249 GB storage left.
From May to June, the Steam Hardware Survey was very high on talking about OS Choice (Windows 11) and System RAM (16 GB), but Mobile RTX 4060 overtook the desktop RTX 3060, going down to 4.79% in the east and later to 4.42%. These two budget GPUs have been at business places continuously for the last few months.
Okulus Quest 2 still remains the major choice of VR headset, but it actually received even more on Meta Quest 3, now 31.38% with the former headset and later at 16.28%. This means that Quest 2 lost 2.29% and Quest 3 in a month 6.38%. This is a huge jump, but the consistent sale of Quest 3 and Xbox-branded Quest 3S launch can make a better fight for the headset in July.
Now that I have freed a little space, I can proudly claim that I am in another place, and somehow I am a little better than before. Given that SSDs become less efficient, and even slow down, if they are filled with data, I will perform better on only an additional game any day.
