Although Amazon Kindle’s name will never be recognized, Chinese tech company Onex International’s e-Ek device-a little foolish “Box” is suitable under the brand name-I am receiving a creed in the America, I have reviewed its three e-pilgrims and digital notebooks in the last one year, and I am a big fan. And if you are reading this article, you are probably (or will be soon).

I not only like the BOOX device very much because they are well built and complete facilities (although if you want more than my thoughts, check my assessment of BOOX PALMA, Note Max and Note Air 4C). I can not get enough for their adaptability. Nothing makes me crazy than trying to simplify something with a device, only the lock down software is stimized which does not want to give me. From side-loading books on a kindle to-good, basically nothing on an iPad, big companies seem to be determined only to me with their equipment what they want to do me.

The BOOX devices are different: They walk on an open version of Android that lets you do a lot whatever you want. You can download any app in Google Play Store, so you are not bound by an e-reading platform. If you want to sideload the apps, feel free: Plug the device into your laptop and it will mount it correctly on the desktop. If you are really ambitious, you can also install your own launcher to completely change things.

While all this freedom is good, it also means that the BOOX devices have a slightly higher than the learning stage than a plug-end-read kindle. So if you are the new owners of one of these magnificent equipment-the thrive is an e-read or a full digital notebook-there are five settings that you must immediately change to go away.

    Set one-touch refresh

Like any e-ink tablet, the box devices sometimes suffer from “ghosting”, or once you change a page, appear later. While the device will automatically refresh itself after a certain number of taps (touching the screen, originally), I like to set a one-touch refresh that I can trigger whenever I want. Depending on your device, there are some ways to do this: a button or a gesture.

If you have found a Boox Palma or any other device with a page turn/volume button, you can map one of them on screen refresh. For Palma, it makes the most understanding to use the smart button for it – this is the left hand side of the device, which can do depending on different things whether you press it once, twice, or hold it down. On my own device, I have mapped a manual refresh for a single smart button press, because it is what I am doing myself the most often (that, or returning to the home screen, that is one of the many options you can choose). He said, if you want, you can also map a refresh for the volume button (although I like to use those people for the page turn).

To remap your smart button, open and tap the setting app Smart buttonTap on your favorite option (Short-press function, Double-click functionOr Long-press function) And select Full-Rifresh,

Not all BOOX devices have buttons, so if you are not, you will need to map a manual refresh for a gesture. (Although you can also do it on Palma, if you want.)

To start, open the settings and scroll down TantraUnder Lower navigationTap more settingsChoose the area of the screen that you want to map the refresh by swipe between the options on the left, center or right. Tap custom And then choose Full-Rifresh From the list of your options.

    Choose your cloud storage option

Box devices have generous onboard storage, but you will get more of them by adding your favorite cloud storage service at the system level. This will allow you to turn the device on and off the device without the need to plug the device.

To start, open settingThen accounting bookTap Go to cloud storage in the libraryThen select your favorite option from the list. You have a group of options including dropbox and Google Drive. Tap your intended person, then log in.

Manage your sleep settings (if you hear audibook or podcast)

In an attempt to use my phone less, I have shifted my audibook to my palama (128GB storage works here). However, I was earlier disappointed with the device as an audio player because I use a protective cover, and every time I closed it, it would sleep, closing my audio. I found myself strangely that it was trying to slip into a pocket with the cover, without accidentally touching the screen.

Then I came to know that there is a setting to fix it (Hat Tip to Lifehakar Reader N33K5 The Zombie Dog Fuzine to share it in comments): You need to “freeze” the device not to “freeze” your audio app when the device sleeps when the device sleeps.

To do this, open settingTap App and informationAnd scroll down Freeze settingsMake sure Do not freeze background apps is set to ButNext, find your audio player apps in the list below (I use audio, smart audibook player and pocket cast) and Close the sliderNow your audio will continue to play even after sleeping.

What do you think so far?

Change your lock screen image and screensever

Box devices have some beautiful preset lock screen images, but if you want to make the device your own, you can set your screensaver and wallpaper. This is a very straight: Choose desktops and screensaver in the Settings app – but if you want a custom image, you must first save it to the right place.

The easiest way to do this is to find an image when browsing the Internet using your BOOX device. Press and choose for a long time downloadWhich will save it into your download folder (naturally). Next, open Gallery Tap the app, your download folder, and then tap on the image at your will. In the lower right, tap more and then set. You can choose to set it screen saver, WallpaperOr Power-off image.

Alternatively, you can plug the device to the computer and manually add images to you. Picture Folder. From there, you can change your wallpaper as described above, or just press and choose on the home screen for a long time. Wallpaper Icon on the lower right; Tap local To find pictures saved in your picture folder. (And here is another useful signal: If you want to create your own wallpaper image in Photoshop or Canva, then the dimensions for boaux palma are 824×1648. Note for Max or Note Air 4C, 1404 x 1872 you should serve well.)

Turn on location information so you can lose it if you lose it

I was a little scared recently when my Palma went missing for about a week. I checked everywhere that I used it, asked if someone had converted it into a front desk at work or I stayed on the way in the cafe, and had no luck. Assuming the worst, I logged on to the “My Devices” page of my Google account, so that it was lost, so at least it will show me a message when it is connected to WiFi next time. But then my son found! (It was out of the yard? Don’t ask for five days? Don’t ask.) It was a relief, but I was upset when I had added it to WiFi and was and was and was No Greeted with a message that it was lost.

After some tampering, I determined that even though the device was signed in Google Play and was active in my account, but it did not work (or trigger the lost mode) as the location services were closed at the system level. Not me Memorization This setting closed, and I enabled permissions for Google Play at the app level, so I did not know that it was not working. To ensure that you do not find yourself in a uniform bind, scroll down for settings and for location information. Turn on the slider to reach my location information.

Then you can tap on the permission of the app to adjust the settings for any app No You want to track, while still fully searching for your price e-reader.
