The iPhone 17 series may not be here yet, but we have already started listening to rumors what can be offered for the iPhone 18 series. The latest repetition claims that we have already heard, suggesting the upcoming A20 chipset using the 2Nm process.
Information comes from analyst Jeff Pu, a research note of GF Securities (through) MarastersPu claims that the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max and the upcoming iPhone will be powered by this chip.
There is no word on what it means for the iPhone 18 and 18 air, but if rumors are believed to not be released until March 2027 – about six months after the pro model. It is expected that Apple still provides the A20 chipset in those phones, even if it does not offer considerable performance power.
For people unfamiliar with this process, the construction of small chips in this way provides better transistor density, which gives a significant boost to both performance and energy efficiency. This means that the iPhone 18 Pro should be much more powerful than the iPhone 17 Pro, while even a charge lasts for a long time.
Previous reports have suggested that these chips can still be faster by up to 15%, offering a 30% improvement in power efficiency compared to unpublished A19 chips. This can be particularly important for future Apple Intelligence upgrade, as better performance may offer more powerful on-device features.
What else is happening with future iPhones?
The rumor is that the iPhone 18 Pro can produce a fully under-in-end display face ID system before the installation of the feature in 2017. This means that all the necessary facial identification will be hidden to the hardware, leaving the front camera as the only visual cut-out in the screen.
The camera is then rumored to go under performance in 2027, to mark the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone. Although all these changes are rumored only for the pro model, and it is not clear whether and when non-pro iPhones will get these changes.
That 20th anniversary iPhone, whether it is called the iPhone 19 or iPhone 20, is believed to be laying groundwork for all future iPhones. That phone is described as “mostly glass curved iPhone” with a new rapomound display on all four sides of the device.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 series is not expected that it is very ground-breaking. However, dummy units and render suggestions that we will see a new full-width camera bar behind the Pro model and iPhone 17 Air.
The wind, of course, is a new design instead of the iPhone 17 Plus, designed to emphasize the style with an ultra-skinned design.
