The CHATGPT model is testing support for the reference protocol (MCP), which will allow it to be connected to third-party services and use them as reference.
MCP There is an open-source standard that allows developers to highlight third-party data through MCP, so AI can use it to eliminate tasks like chat.
For example, Chatgpt may connect to third-party applications such as Gmail to reach your information and use it in tasks to help you.
MCP may not have much use cases for consumers, but it may be a game-chain for enterprises, as it will allow businesses to connect their internal equipment to Chatgpt and share data when necessary.

As Moldy By Tibor on X, Chatgpt is testing a new connector settings where you can click on the custom, and add a new tool.

Once done once, you can see the form where you enter the name, URL and details of your custom tool.
This allows Chatgpt to connect with its own apps or API.
MCP support is still being tested internal, but Openai can formally declare the convenience in the coming days or weeks.
