The proverb is that a dog is the best friend of a man, but an archaeological excavation in Norway proves that women care about their four-foot colleagues, as men do, even 1,100 years ago.

Archaeologists of the Arctic University Museum, Norway have revealed the 10th -century Viking Boat Tomb on the Norwegian Island in Senja. The possibility of a buried person is a woman who belonged to an elite, as Science Norway First reported. Most especially, the team carefully found a dog buried on his feet.

“It appears to be placed with real care,” a museum archaeologist Anja Roth Neemi, who possibly participated in the excavation, told Science Norway. “The major people have stories to do everything in their power when their dog became ill. So back, people had deep bonds with their animals.”

A metal detectorist first discovered brooch and bone, which remains just 7.9 inches (20 cm) below the ground two years ago. Suspecting the presence of a Viking woman’s burial, the Arctic University Museum of Norway applied for permission to investigate and finally was able to conduct a proper excavation when the landlord decided to expand a garage on the property.

The museum wrote on a social media, “The upper layer of soil was removed, it became clear that it was a boat tomb.” Post“The boat was seen as a thin dark bandage in the boat’s wood subcil, with the site where the bowl broochs were found almost in the middle.”

The work was detected in the work of 17.7-Foot long (5.4-meters), in which a Viking woman and a dog were buried according to Science Norway, bone or amber beads, a pearls and the aristocratic items associated with the aristocracy, including the ornate brooch. This is not the first time archaeologists have found that there are dog remains with viking, but it further provides evidence that dogs were priced even 1,100 years ago.

Broch’s design -Ods with silver threads -Odd to the team from around 900 to 950 CE, as reported by Science Norway. They also indicate that the buried person was a woman, given that the oval brooch was usually viking women’s ornaments, although only bone analysis could confirm this beyond only one doubt. In addition, the boat tomb and the grave belongings completely suggest that the woman was a high -class person.

“Only the aristocratic class will receive a burial in this way,” Neemi told Science to Norway. Neemi and his colleagues also highlighted agricultural equipment and textile equipment, of which the latter further associated the burial with the Viking femininity. Further analysis will confirm the penis of the person and highlight his age, height, diet and health, while the Viking offers more insight into the burial traditions. In addition, not far from burial after discovering another brooch, archaeologists hope to continue the investigation of the area in the hope of finding another grave.

According to the post of the museum, the last days of excavation “were spent to record all the contents of the tomb and secure them for transport and storage until they could not be examined in detail in controlled conditions in the laboratory in the tromes.”

It is my hope that they keep the woman and her pets together in the tromeso, so that the dog could continue to guard its owner later because it was likely that when they were both alive.
